Having used Metabrush to creating interesting ribbon-like brush strokes with textured brushes, I wanted to paint a face over the ribbon. I was able to achieve an interesting effect using iColorama's blending capabilities.
I started with this photo from Pixabay, a source of copyright-free images. I like her straightforward gaze and the interesting shape of her face.
I processed her in iColorama for tone and smoothness, and to fix the eyes. I used Form/Warp increase the size of her eyes and forehead, for a more open expression.
I created this caricature in iColorama using Style/Flat, Tone/Enchance, Form/Warp. I also used the Elasticam app for fine warp adjustments.
I used Metabrush to create big hair on the first warped version of the girl. You can see how to make such a brush in Metabrush here.
I used this photograph I took and processed in iColorama, as source image for the brush for her hair in the above step. I used one of the Gradient brushes.
I used different Metabrush brushes to paint on her face and jacket with low opacity. On her shirt I think I used Pen brush 12/19.
I used this pattern I created in iColorama as source image for the brush on her jacket.
In iColorama, I blended in eyes from the caricature, in two separate steps so I could place each one separately.
I used Elasticam to modify the eyes.
I blended in the other caricature features and face, in iColorama.
I used Elasticam to alter her features, particularly the nose and mouth. I toned and sharpened in iColorama.
I used this image, created in Metabrush, for the ribbon. You can see how to make this brush here.
In iColorama, I blended the ribbon image onto the girl. I used Subtract blending mode. In the Set panel, I pulled the Lightness slider most of the way to the right, and I moved the right end of the gray slider the teeniest smidgeon to the left for the cutout effect.
Finishing touches werre to optimize in iColorama for tone, color and sharpness, with a tiny bit of Effect/Glow preset 1 and Effect/Raise preset 4. And I cropped.
