July Meeting.

For our next meeting.

To begin with some housekeeping:

  1. We will meet next on July 22nd (and on 4th Thursday of Each month for the next while anyway.

  2. We will keep the meetings to one hour (ish).

  3. We will go for the same time again knowing that some are staying up late for our meeting and some are getting up very early also. But it appears that it may indeed be manageable. And Thank you for this.

  4. I will send a recording of our meeting to MT later today and she can have a browse through it and I will be on to her next week to be sure that we are on the right track. Any wisdom picked up will be passed on in the meantime.

  5. Thanks to Dorothy today for the two PowerPoints - The Reflection and The collated works of the group. Others will forward their pieces and when all is done Dorothy will forward to me the two powerpoints.

  6. The powerpoint presentation that I offered today on the COP26 is attached (with some guide notes that I made for myself - They may be helpful).

  7. I intend to put all the work and resources of our work and meetings on an accessible Web page just for our ease of working and so that we can keep track of where to next.

  8. At our next meeting Ruth has offered to prepare and lead us in a reflection.

  9. The agenda for the next meeting will therefore be as follows:

    1. Welcome

    2. Reflection

    3. Considering how our work as IPA Justice Contacts impacts where we live and work when we consider "care for the environment" and how we can plan to act so that our work can be more impactful. To this end I offer the following as a resource that we might consider exploring The Laudato Si Action Platform https://laudatosiactionplatform.org/

What else?

I spoke with MT this afternoon (July 6th) to get some direction for our group. This is what I learned:

  1. We must ask the JCs in the other two focus groups to let us know what they are doing in their home countries for care of our common home.

  2. The team planning the next Assembly have yet to announce their plans so as of yet our group is preparing to share with other Presentation People.

  3. Something that we could do is to prepare a reflection that could be prepared collaboratively and shared with all Presentation People for use on a particular day during the Season of Creation. This reflection could take account of the work that we do and could also be a platform for our learning around COP26.

  4. For the COP we could create a simple resource that could inform on COP26 as we try to offer to people ways in which they can engage.

  5. We must think ahead to beyond the COP and what next!

  6. That's enough to be going on with.

Brian
