Assessment Projects

Mapping Project

In 2017, the College and Career Readiness Committee worked with data from the Iowa School Library Survey to present a snapshot of information literacy instruction in Iowa public high schools in 2009 and 2015. The project also presented data on certified school librarians in Iowa from the Basic Educational Data Survey from those same years. The project was presented at the Iowa Library Association Conference. View the citation and link to slides below.

These projects present selections from the Iowa School Library Study and BEDS data sets from 2009 and 2015 in color-coded maps. The presentations highlight a significant reduction in the number of hours high school librarians spent on information literacy instruction and collaboration activities during that time period. The BEDS data show a dramatic increase in shared librarians across Iowa.
