Our group studied issues surrounding Food Justice in the course leading up to our departure. In our small group time, we discussed the issues surrounding the topic guided by our readings from $2.00 a Day and a documentary called A Place at the Table.
We traveled to Indianapolis because it is known for being the nation's worst food desert. This means that many residents in the city do not have access to fresh food. We also were sponsored by Fraternity and Sorority ife because Indianapolis is the home to many national headquarters and allowed us to explore the connections between our organizations and active citizenry.
