SCHOLARSHIPS 2025
Description
The Iowa City Education Association (ICEA) is offering scholarships of $1000 each to a limited number of students. These scholarships will be available to members’ children to attend accredited higher education institutions including vocational schools, community colleges and colleges. Students with any major or educational program are eligible. The scholarship is open to children of ICEA members who are high school seniors graduating this year.
Applications are due by Friday, April 25 at 5 PM.
Application Requirements
Each application will consist of:
1. General information cover sheet consisting of student name, address, phone, email address, current high school attending, institutions applied to, intended major, and name of parent/legal guardian who is an ICEA member.

2. A resume consisting of:
● School strengths and interests
● Personal interests and hobbies
● Extracurricular activities at school
● Community involvement (volunteering, scouts, organizations, etc.)
*Use a resume you have already created. If you do not have a resume, here is an easy-to-use RESUME TEMPLATE
3. A written, one page essay using ONE of the following prompts:
● Describe why you have chosen your selected educational program, or possible program under consideration. If you have an undeclared major, describe why you are choosing this educational program or institution to further your education; OR
● Describe how your teachers (elementary, junior high, or high school) have influenced you as a learner; OR
● Discuss the value and purpose of education, and the role education has played in your life.
4. A written response to the following prompt: What is something important about you that you feel has been left unsaid in the rest of your application? What do you most want the ICEA Scholarship Selection Committee to remember about you?
Applicants, please remember to have a friend, teacher, or family member proofread your responses. Please share with the ICEA Scholarship Committee all of the amazing things that you have done so far in your life. Let yourself shine!
Submission Procedures
Applicants will submit the above documents to the ICEA Google Account (see instructions below) by 5:00 PM on Friday, April 25, 2025
Google Drive submission procedure
1. Create a Gmail account at https://accounts.google.com – click on “Sign up.” If you already have a Gmail account, you can use your existing account.
2. Use page breaks for the four components: General information, resume, 1-page essay, written response. (See Application Requirements, above). Save it with a filename “ICEA 2025 scholarship” plus the student's name (for example, “ICEA 2025 scholarship Jean Doe”).
3. Once you are satisfied with your document, “share” the document with: iceascholarship@gmail.com

You will receive email verification within 3 business days of submission. If you do not, then please resubmit.
Notification and payment
● Recipients will be notified by May 15, 2025.
● Each recipient will receive a check for $1000.00 after providing proof of registration at the post-secondary institution. Checks will be sent in September, provided the recipient follows up with proof of registration.

It is that time of year again, we are looking for nominations for deserving individuals for the below ECUU awards. To the left are forms that will need to be completed when sending in a nomination (simply click on them and download them). Here is a brief description of each of the awards:
Educator of the Year
To honor a member with an outstanding record of service to the education profession. Nominations for this award are due to the ECUU office by April 1.
Member of the Year
To honor a member, who not only is an outstanding educator, but also has been active as an Association leader. Nominations for this award are due to the ECUU office by April 1.
Friend of Education
To honor a citizen that has made a significant contribution to education. Nominations for this award are due to the ECUU office by April 1.
Also to the left is the 2019-20 ECUU Scholarship form. The deadline for the scholarship drawing is April 1, 2020. This is for any member that has taken a class during the second semester of the 2019/20 school year.
