Building representatives, or "building reps," are the most direct connection that a member of the association has to the ICEA. Building reps serve many important functions, including:
Providing information to members in their respective buildings.
Helping to recruit and retain teacher members from their respective buildings.
Being present at any disciplinary or investigatory meetings that may occur between teachers in their building and a member of administration.
Being a source of knowledge, leadership, and expertise for members of their respective buildings.
The building rep council meets on the second Wednesday of each month during the school year. Meetings start at 4:15 and occur on zoom.
Interested in becoming a building rep? ICEA is always looking for more people who want to deepen their involvement in the association and who are looking for ways to develop their leadership. Inquiries to join the building rep council can be directed to Travis Henderson, ICEA Membership Chair, at henderson.travis@iowacityschools.org, or Brady Shutt, ICEA President, at shutt.brady@iowacityschools.org.
