Since 1932 LULAC Councils have been selling tacos, tamales, having dances, etc., to raise monies for scholarships that are given to Hispanic students meeting certain guidelines. In 1975 the LULAC National Educational Service Centers (LNESC), began the LULAC National Scholarship Fund. The LNSF is to help youth make the dream of college enrollment a reality.

LNESC raises monies through donations from national corporations, while the LULAC local councils continue raising their monies the old fashion way. At a certain time of the year LNESC sends out matching funds information to all councils who in turn following the guidelines set by the LNSF program, submit their monies for matching purposes.

LULAC offers a variety of scholarships for high school seniors, undergraduate & graduate college students through our educational arm, the LULAC National Educational Service Centers, Inc. (LNESC)

• Must be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or be granted Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

• Must be a high school senior or college student that has applied to or be enrolled as a full-time student in a college or university, including 2-year colleges, or vocational schools that lead to an associate’s degree. Graduate students must have applied to or be enrolled as a part-time student in a college or university

• Demonstrate community involvement and leadership

• Submit a personal essay outlining educational and career goals

• Provide two letters of recommendation

• Be a resident of the Johnson County area

• Submit a professional headshot
