Create a brochure outlining our mission statement, purposes, eligibility who we are and what we do (pictures of fraternal fellowship, scholarships, altruism, business meeting, celebrating members) and scholarships
Look at your State/Nation’s sustaining members
Make programming effective for your members (interesting, not too long, make the business meeting a small part of each meeting)
Reinstatement – Once a sister, always a sister. If a member resigned, but now is retired, she can rejoin the chapter.
Develop a Membership Training Video – membership is the responsibility of all members. Look at your chapter – need a balance of actively engaged and not engaged, how many members in each level of education, a variety of levels bring personality to the chapter.
Personal contact – personal invitation
Promote altruistic projects – members need projects that are meaningful for them and their community.
Utilize the Membership Development Manual – for recruitment, reinstatement, and retention ideas - a power point in on the International website.
Volunteer at a local community sponsored events or at a local school
Celebrate successes of members and community members.
Get members involved in leadership roles.
Stay in touch with scholarship recipients.
Revitalization – look at your chapter (CNA’s) to guide your meetings – listen to your members. Look at the chapter’s strength and weaknesses
Advertise with our badge, shirts, name tags, buttons. You never know who you may meet.
Have an information session at schools of current members.
Assign a mentor to new members. Someone to explain how the organization operates each month. This will keep young members involved so they will stay.
Communication: Spotlight your chapter in newsletters and newspapers. Showcase/Share the good work your chapter is doing – invite new prospective members to be your guest where an altruistic project is being conducted to benefit the chapter’s scholarship endeavors.
Mentor or work with a teacher at a local school.
Hands on involvement.
Use Facebook and other social media to promote activities
Have social events (wine/cheese, bunco) separate from the meeting
Give scholarships to 1st year teachers and then invite them to a meeting to learn about Alpha Delta Kappa.
Contribute to an area school with school supplies – include a brochure or fact sheet for Alpha Delta Kappa. Sharing this information is a gift and if you gain a new sister that is a gift as well.
Offer a raffle during Alpha Delta Kappa month. Place a box at every school in which you have a member – place information about Alpha Delta Kappa in all teacher’s mailboxes. Teachers will fill out the form, drop it in the box. During October’s meeting, draw 1 name form each school and that teacher wins a $25.00 gift card for their classroom. Invite the winners to the November meeting. Hopefully, they will become new members.
Have FUN! Try something NEW – Step outside your comfort zone!
Invite potential sisters to a breakfast or brunch with your chapter! Below is the same invite as a Word document.
Add these to a Kit Kat bar with a ribbon or glue and have a chat!
