Located in Burge Residence Hall at the University of Iowa, the Makerspace is a creative hub for first-year engineering majors and PIE LLC members. It features a variety of handheld tools and craft materials as well as sticker cutters and 3D printers. Plus, all materials are free!
IMPORTANT: Access to the 3D printing room (3010C) within the Makerspace is limited to students who have completed the required training and meet certain criteria. All other tools are available without restriction.
In order to access the Makerspace, you must be at least one of the following:
First-year engineering (or engineering-interested) student at the University of Iowa
Member of the PIE LLC (People in Engineering, Living Learning Community)
*As long as you satisfy one of the conditions above, you should already have access! Just scan your Student ID card at the entrance and the doors should unlock for you.
To gain access to room 3010C (where the 3d printers are located in the Burge Makerspace), email the Iowa 3D Club and we’ll respond with further instructions!
*Please note: a brief training will be required.
Renovated in 2023, the Makerspace now features a modern design and offers convenient access to tools and resources for creative projects and hands-on learning.
