At the start of 2025, the Final of the BBL was played. I was part of the team that delivered the Augmented Reality graphics (using Unreal Engine) that were seen during drone shots over the MCG, where I performed the role of the Technical Artist.
In the interest of maintaining my contractual obligations to NDA's, I will not go into technical details about how it all worked. I will merely highlight the broad details and some of my noteworthy contributions:
Engine: Unreal 5.
Release: Broadcasted live on Channel 7.
Production Period: Aired on January 2025.
My Notable Contributions:
Integration of the live stats into Unreal's graphics.
Integrate the art team's assets into the pipeline.
Synch the positional tracking of the drone above the stadium to Unreal's internal camera through Unreal's Live Link plugin.
Performance optimization, ensuring the output came out at a steady 60fps.
Maintaining colour accuracy between the footage and Unreal's graphics.
