The purpose of this case study is to show how the Inuvialuit have used the Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC) to reclaim cultural practices, support the Inuvialuit employment in the region, and increase food sovereignty in the arctic. Through the development of the IDC they have been able to utilize this 100% Indigenous-owned and operated Corporate structure in support of the nation.

The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation purchased the only Canadian reindeer herd from private ownership to shared Inuvialuit ownership.
