How to reach Tropea
By car: If traveling from the north on the Salerno-Reggio Calabria road, the recommended exit is Pizzo Calabro, then continue to Tropea. For those coming from the south, the recommended exit is Rosarno.
By train: The nearest railway stations are Tropea and Vibo Valentia-Pizzo (35 km from Tropea).
By plane: The reference airport is Lamezia Terme (45 km from Tropea), where it will be possible to rent a car or use railway transportation to reach the city of Tropea.
How to reach Tropis Hotel from Lamezia Terme Airport: local bus+train
The simplest option is to take a local bus from Lamezia Terme Airport to Lamezia Terme Centrale (train station) and then a local train from Lamezia Terme Centrale to Tropea.
After you exit from the baggage claim area, leave the airport using the first exit on your right. When you reach the footpath, turn right. The bus stop is located 10/20 meters away. Tickets for the bus can be purchased at the newsagent located on your right in the main hall of the airport, just after you exit the baggage claim area. Alternatively, they can be bought directly from the driver on the bus. The bus departs every half an hour.
The train station is very close to the airport, so the bus ride will only take a few minutes to reach the station.
At the station, tickets to Tropea can be bought from the automatic machines.
The journey from Lamezia station to Tropea will take approximately 50/55 minutes. Intermediate stations are Pizzo, Vibo Marina, Briatico, Zambrone, and Parghelia.
This combined bus+train service is provided by 'Trenitalia', the Italian train company: https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html
Therefore, the timetables of services from Lamezia Terme Airport to Lamezia Terme train station and from Lamezia Terme train station to Tropea can be found at that link. Importantly, tickets for both the bus and the train can also be purchased online on that website. The total price is about 6 euros.

Mini-Workshop Venue - B&B Le Sette Sorelle, Filicudi
The mini-workshop will take place on the island of Filicudi, part of the Eolian archipelago. The seven main islands are, in order of size: Lipari, Salina, Vulcano, Stromboli, Filicudi, Alicudi, Panarea.
Filicudi is among the smaller and wilder islands. Its total area is 9.5 square-km. There are several small villages on the island, which include Pecorini Mare and Valdichiesa. There are about 200 permanent residents on the islands, but this number grows to about 3000 in summer.
While all islands are of volcanic origin (and Stromboli is an active volcano, among the most famous ones in the world), Filicudi itself has no volcanic activity. Despite being relatively wild, the island has the main comforts of the mainland, including (since 1986) electricity. Water is still imported from the mainland by tankers, and as such it is to be used with some care.
The accommodation will consist of a dozen private rooms at the B&B Le Sette Sorelle (the seven sisters, referring to the Eolian islands). The B&B is within walking distance to the main harbour. Breakfast and a light lunch will be provided. A common area with space for discussions and seminars (blackboard only) will be at the disposal of the participants.
The Eolian islands are famous for their plentiful fresh fish, including the famous Sicilian red shrimps and tuna, pastries, gelato, granita, capers, and wines (especially malvasia).
The nature in Filicudi is quite beautiful, both for small hikes (up to about 800m), swimming, and snorkeling. The archaeology of the island is also very rich. Finally, Stromboli is not too far away, and it is certainly worth a visit if you have never seen it (we may plan an excursion all together if there is an interest from many participants).
How to reach Filicudi
Filicudi is a small island, reachable only by boat. There are three ways to get there from the mainland: from Naples, from Milazzo, and from Palermo. The trip from Naples is very long, and I would not recommend it unless you have special reasons to go through Naples (in which case, ask Alessandro for details). Milazzo is the closest harbour in Sicily, and there are many boats to the islands, but it is hard to reach Milazzo without a car. Palermo is the best option for international travellers. There is one daily boat either way:
--- Palermo - Filicudi (13:30 - 16:00)
--- Filicudi - Palermo (9:05 - 13:35)
The boats are from/to Palermo (as well as within the various Eolian islands) are operated by Liberty Lines, https://www.libertylines.it/ . It is a fast and punctual service on which several hundred residents of the islands rely during the whole year. It can happen that the service is cancelled altogether, but only in the case of extremely rough sea (typically this happens in winter). Book your tickets in advance, boats can get full in summer!
Palermo is served by an international airport. It takes ~40 minutes by taxi from/to the airport to/from the harbour. The ride costs between 39 and 50 euro, depending on your destination. You can also share a taxi from the airport for 8 euro/person. It may make sense for you to spend one or two nights in Palermo --- the city is beautiful, well worth a visit, and you won't have to fret in case of delays with your flight.
What to see in Palermo. Palermo is a city rich with history, art and good food. Must-see destinations include Palazzo dei Normanni and Cappella Palatina, Piazza Pretoria and Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio, the nearby Santa Caterina Monastery, where you can taste the delicious pastries made by the nuns, the Chiesa del Gesù di Casa Professa. You should stroll in the city markets, like il Mercato del Capo (have some fresh fish at one of the stands), il Mercato di Ballarò, or La Vucciria (if you are in the mood for roasted sheep entrails). If you have more time, a bit outside Palermo don't miss the Duomo di Monreale and the Zisa Palace.
