Exam

Standard exam guidelines

  • Written exam (questions and/or exercises) at the end of the course.

  • Dates:

    • 2020.09.10

  • IMPORTANT: Exam marks will be published through Esse3. You will receive an email notification when this has been done. You will have 7 (seven) days to confirm your acceptance of the mark directly through Esse3, or choose to withdraw from the session. If you do not actively confirm the mark, it will not be recorded, and you will have to sign up for another session in future.

Remote exam guidelines

Remote exams during the 2020 summer period will be paper-based. Please check the unitn guidelines on the paper-based exam format first of all to make sure you meet the minimum requirements.

Joining

The exam will be proctored via google meet.

  • Students will require an active webcam for the whole duration.

  • Students will be sent an invitation to a google meet to their esse3 email address (@studenti.unitn.it).

  • The questions will be made available to students through a google drive link. Their email address will receive a notification, and the link will be shared in the meeting room chat.

  • Please have photographic ID available to show the proctor for identity proofing.

  • In order to avoid distractions for everyone, please keep the microphone muted after the exam starts for the entire duration unless asked otherwise.

  • Please note, as advised by UniTN: "Each student must be seated at a desk or table placed against a wall if possible and in a well-lit area. The webcam must frame the student and the surrounding area." Ideally we should see what you see: the paper you write on, and whatever is in front of you to ensure you are not reading anything other than the exam paper itself. If possible, keep the webcam to one side of your desk while working, and only turn if necessary e.g. to read the question from a screen.

Handing in

Students will have 60 minutes at most to answer all questions.

Students will have to scan their answers and email them to both silvio.ranise@unitn.it and demissie@fbk.eu.

  • Scanning may be done with a scanner in the same room, or with a mobile phone using a document scanning app of your choice, such as genius scan, Adobe scan, or CamScanner.

  • The file should be named following the convention set by unitn:

    • surname-name-studentIDnumber.pdf

  • The student must wait for the proctor’s ok to leave the exam. This is to ensure that the answers have been received and are legible.

  • Students may be contacted in future by the examiner, should any issues need to be cleared up.

Questions and answers

The exam questions will be of the same format as past papers.

Students will write answers on paper.

  • Please use pens, not pencils, to make scanning easier.

  • Make sure you have spare pen and paper as you must not leave the room until you hand in the exam.

  • You will not need a printer; please make sure you clearly mark which question you are answering on your paper.

  • On each sheet, make sure to write:

    • Name

    • Surname

    • student ID number

    • question number

The questions will be separated in two parts. This is for our convenience only.

  • Please use no more than 2 sides of A4 paper for each part, that is no more than 4 sides in total. The difficulty of questions is intended for no more than this effort, roughly.
