Can You teach an old dog new tricks?

I read recently this quote : "Many genes change in response to cues from the environment. For instance, those that contain the code to build complex hormone molecules like cortisol and adrenaline "turn on" within a second or two of a stressful stimulus like a loud noise. Your body can't tell the difference between an objective danger, and the subjective stimulus of a negative emotion or thought. It responds by activating your stress genes, which suck up biological resources to respond to the imagined threat." 1

So how can you teach an old dog like me.....

The way is to intentionally take the time to relax, to intentionally take the time to schedule massages or meditation/time alone, a nice walk in nature..fishing anyone?? We can actually reset our emergency response system back to a true zero. Do you ever feel that you can't quite relax like you used to? Thats because on your stress scale you never really get back to zero. When a stressor occurs- we start somewhere along the 1-10 scale...4---5 and it doesn't take much more to react (or overreact) to stress negatively.

New trick...take the time to conserve your greatest resource......schedule a massage soon..or take that walk you've been putting off. You'll be a new you !!

Peace to you,

Lisa
