On the 15th of March, I held an International Coffee Morning where a group of young people came together to share their backgrounds and experiences of moving between cultures. The event began with an introduction of me explaining the purpose of creating this event as a welcoming space for people from different cultures. Everybody then introduced themselves, shared how long they had lived here, and spoke about what they enjoy about living in Scotland.
We discussed differences between life here and in our home countries, including education systems, school uniforms, and daily life. Many people shared that education in Scotland feels more relaxed and offers more freedom compared to their home countries. We also talked about cultural topics such as traditional foods, holidays, and languages spoken.
Overall, the event allowed everyone to learn more about each other’s cultures, share experiences, and reflect on both the positive and challenging aspects of living in a new country.
