Yoga means 'union' is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India and aim to control and still the mind, recognizing a detached witness-consciousness untouched by the mind (Chitta) and mundane suffering.

Practice of yoga was misunderstood and misrepresented since time immemorial. The practice that should bring in both spiritual and mental bliss is reduced to mere exercise to achieve physical wellness. The actual purpose of Yoga is to attain self control and peace with self, which will ultimately lead to bliss.
