Dr. Zick is a Research Professor in Family Medicine and Nutritional Sciences, Interim Associate Chair for Research in Family Medicine, and Co-Director of the Integrative Family Medicine Program at the University of Michigan. Dr. Zick’s research interests include the use and implementation of complementary therapies including self-acupressure and whole food diets for control of cancer-related symptoms of fatigue, sleep disturbance and quality of life. She has developed a mobile application to help implement self-acupressure into ‘real world’ clinical and community settings. Dr. Zick was the course director of an NCI education grant to teach oncology providers evidence-based integrative oncology and is working with the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO) on developing competencies and curricular elements for integrative oncology fellowships. She is the Co-director of the SIO Clinical Practice Guideline Committee and was a panel member for the 2024 joint American Society for Clinical Oncology-SIO Fatigue in Cancer Clinical Practice Guidelines.
Dr. Jill Schneiderhan, is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine, Department of Family Medicine, at the University of Michigan Medical School. She is also the Co-Director of the Integrative Family Medicine Program. Dr. Schneiderhan is a family physician with a focus on Integrative Medicine education and chronic pain management with scholarship work in non-pharmacological chronic pain management and integrative medicine education.

Dr. Anup Bhandiwad, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Division of Integrative Medicine at University of Michigan. He serves as the Integrative Medicine fellowship director offering teaching, mentorship, and scholarly support to fellows. Dr. Bhandiwad’s clinical interests include mindfulness, lifestyle medicine, increase access to care and wellness within primary care.

N. Lynn Henry, MD, PhD is a Professor of Internal Medicine and Interim Division Chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology. She was formerly section head for breast oncology in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, associate director of Training, Research, and Education for the Rogel Cancer Center, and Co-Director of the Michigan Breast Oncology Quality Consortium. She is also Co-Chair of the Symptom Management and Quality of Life Committee for the SWOG National Cancer Treatment Network research base. She completed her undergraduate training at Louisiana State University, her doctoral degree in structural biology at Stanford University School of Medicine, and her medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis, MO. She then completed her internal medicine residency training at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA, followed by hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Michigan. Dr. Henry cares for patients with all types and stages of breast cancer. Her research is focused on toxicity of therapy for patients with breast cancer, including understanding the mechanisms of development of side effects, identifying which patients are likely to tolerate treatment, and examining interventions to manage toxicity. She has received grant funding from the National Cancer Institute, the American Cancer Society, the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, the V Foundation, the Hope Foundation for Cancer Research, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Kristin Klein is a Clinical Professor at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy and a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in the areas of pediatrics, cystic fibrosis, and specialty pharmacy at Michigan Medicine. Dr. Klein received her B.S. in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Oklahoma. She completed a specialty residency in Pediatric Pharmacotherapy at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Dr. Klein is especially interested in immunizations advocacy. She completed the Interprofessional Leaders Fellowship Program at the University of Michigan and has helped train numerous pharmacy and medical students, residents, and fellows over her 23 years of practice. Dr. Klein is an active member of the Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA) and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), where she has served in numerous leadership positions including President of PPA and Chair of the Pediatrics SIG in AACP. Dr. Klein is the faculty lead for the College of Pharmacy’s BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences program and the College’s Director of Immunizations.

Dr. Balneaves is a Full Professor and Associate Dean, Research in the College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba. She has held academic positions at the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia. Her research program focuses on the use of complementary and integrative therapies in the context of cancer and the development and evaluation of knowledge translation and decision support interventions for individuals living with cancer and oncology health professionals. She also engages in health policy and person-centred research related to medical and non-medical cannabis. She is a past president of the Society for Integrative Oncology and the former deputy director of the Canadian Consortium for the Investigation of Cannabinoids.

Dr. Bao serves as the Co-Director of the Zakim Center for Integrative Therapies and Healthy Living at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She is a past president of the Society for Integrative Oncology (SIO) and currently serves as the Co-Chair of the SIO Education Committee. Dr. Bao is a board-certified breast medical oncologist, medical acupuncturist, and integrative medicine physician. Her extensive clinical and research background includes conducting numerous clinical trials investigating the safety, effectiveness, and underlying mechanisms of acupuncture and yoga for enhancing the quality of life of cancer patients and addressing treatment- and disease-related symptoms. Dr. Bao's expertise has led her to serve on the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Physician Data Query Integrative Complementary and Alternative Medicine Editorial Board. She is also a member of the Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology Symptom Intervention Committee and regularly participates as a speaker and panelist in NCI workshops on oncology acupuncture and complementary and integrative medicine.

Dr. Heather Greenlee is a public health researcher and naturopathic physician who focuses on cancer prevention and control, cancer survivorship, obesity and cancer, and integrative medicine. She studies the effects of dietary change, physical activity and weight loss on cancer outcomes and designs lifestyle interventions to reduce cancer risk and better the life of cancer survivors, particularly in underserved populations. Dr. Greenlee also studies the use of integrative therapies such as acupuncture, massage, botanicals, vitamins/minerals and mind-body approaches to improve cancer symptoms, alleviate treatment side effects and improve survivors’ quality of life. She has helped create national guidelines on the use of integrative therapies during and after breast cancer treatment and was a co-investigator on the first large, randomized trial that showed acupuncture relieves joint pain caused by hormone-suppressing drugs in early-stage breast cancer patients. Dr. Greenlee also studies dietary and physical activity interventions among Latina breast cancer survivors; predictors of cardiovascular disease in breast cancer survivors; and the association between physical activity, the gut microbiome and risk of colorectal cancer.

Dr. Richard E. Harris is the Susan Samueli Endowed Chair and a Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). He also serves as a Professor in the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute at UCI.
Dr. Harris earned his B.S. in Genetics from Purdue University in 1992 and his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley in 1997. He further obtained a Master of Science equivalent in Acupuncture from the Maryland Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2002 and an M.S. in Clinical Research Design and Statistical Analysis from the University of Michigan in 2005. Before joining UCI in April 2023, Dr. Harris's research focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms of chronic pain and its treatment through methods such as acupuncture and shamanism. His recent work has explored brain neurotransmitters and network behaviors in chronic pain conditions. He has served on the National Advisory Council for the NIH's National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health and is currently co-president of the Society for Acupuncture Research. Dr. Harris is also a practitioner of Zen and Qigong meditation, integrating these practices into his research on holistic approaches to health and well-being

Sabrina Mayhew serves as vice president of development for the Michigan Breast Cancer Coalition, a non-profit advocacy organization. She is also a Registered Nurse at Beaumont Health in Radiation Oncology and serves as Program Coordinator with Sharing & Caring, Breast Cancer Education and Support. She founded The Angel Pillow Project (www.angelpillow.org), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that brings hope, emotional and physical support to newly diagnosed breast cancer patients.
Mayhew is a breast cancer survivor and the IO Scholars Program Patient Advocate.
Dr. Eder Luis Gutierrez Carlock, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School. He earned his medical degree from Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, in 2008. Dr. Gutierrez Carlock completed his residency in Family Medicine at Detroit Medical Center-Sinai Grace/Michigan State University-College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2021. Following his residency, he pursued a fellowship in Integrative Family Medicine at the University of Michigan, which he completed in 2022. Dr. Gutierrez Carlock's clinical and research interests focus on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and integrative approaches to family medicine.

Dr. Shumer earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Michigan (2008) and Medical Degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine (2013). He completed his family medicine residency and integrative medicine fellowship training at the University of Michigan Department of Family Medicine, where he served as a chief resident during his third year. During training, he also took part in the Executive Master’s Program through the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where he earned a Master of Health Services Administration Degree. He currently sees patients at Domino’s Farms Family Medicine.

Dr. Linda Carlson has held the Enbridge Research Chair in Psychosocial Oncology since 2007, is Full Professor in Psychosocial Oncology in the Department of Oncology, Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary, and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology. She is the Director of the Alberta Complementary Therapy and Integrative Oncology (ACTION) Centre (ACTION Centre | My Site (action-centre.ca), and is Director of Research and continues to work as a Clinical Psychologist at the Department of Psychosocial Resources at Cancer Care Alberta, where she has provided clinical service since 1997. Dr. Carlson has received a long line of prestigious national and international research and teaching awards throughout her career, highlighted by the Kawano New Investigator Award from the International Psycho-Oncology Society (IPOS) in 2006, the inaugural Research Excellence award from the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology in 2010, the Bernard Fox Memorial Award from IPOS in 2019, a Distinguished Scientist award from the Society of Behavioral Medicine in 2023, and the Dr. Rogers Prize in Complementary and Alternative Medicine in 2023. She was the President of the Society for Integrative Oncology from 2021-2023, and is Co-Editor-in-Chief for the official IPOS journal: The Journal of Psychosocial Oncology Research and Practice. Dr. Carlson's research in Psychosocial Oncology, Integrative Oncology and Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery has been published in many high-impact journals and book chapters, and she published a patient manual in 2011 with Michael Speca entitled: Mindfulness-Based Cancer Recovery: A step-by-step MBSR approach to help you cope with treatment and reclaim your life, in addition to a professional training manual in 2009 (2nd Edition 2017) with Shauna Shapiro entitled The Art and Science of Mindfulness: Integrating mindfulness into psychology and the helping professions. She has published over 250 peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters, holds several millions of dollars in grant funding and is regularly invited to present her work at international conferences.
