Mock-ups were used as paper prototypes, and presented to our user group. Based on the feedback, we made changes that improved our design significantly.

1 . The “Calculate Insulin” Button was hard for the
participants to find, and users were confused by “calculate” and “submit”.
2 . Participants did not understand the comment buttons, and “why there were two.”
3 . Comments were not being added to the log/how to access the comments after they were saved.
4 . On the Regimen page participants couldn’t find the Appointment time button, and upon finding it, didn’t like the need to scroll to find and enter it, when it was most often expected to be updated. They also confused by 3 update buttons.
5 . For the School Nurse, there was no way to log out of 1 patient and switch to another patient's profile, or to sign out completely.
6 . Day at a Glance for Grandpa and Nurse was confusing.
7 . Users would like to see more “averages” for BG readings at meal time, vs. graphical data.
8 . Users wanted to calculate meals with multiple sources of carbohydrates.
