Course Description: This course introduces the field of instructional design, its history, research-based structures, and practical strategies. Future instructional designers prepare to become professionals who use an empathetic process to determine learner needs and advocate for a systematic approach to determine and meet organizational needs. Students explore the instructional design life cycle through the ADDIE model to design learning experiences that demonstrate proper instructional alignment.
Course Description: This course provides hands-on work with multimedia tools, informed by multimedia learning principles. Through the process of developing various eLearning artifacts, students investigate industry standards and research emerging instructional design technologies. Additionally, ethical considerations for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in instructional design and strategies for troubleshooting common technical issues are explored. Prerequisite: EID-500.
Course Description: This course covers the theoretical underpinnings of instructional design. Students explore several instructional design models, as well as strategies for managing instructional design and development projects. Students use various systematic processes to design learning solutions and present justifications for the design decisions they make. Current and emerging technologies are explored and applied as appropriate to instructional design solutions. Prerequisite: EID-505.
Course Description: Designing effective instruction requires an emphasis on learner needs and outcomes. This course focuses on designing and developing essential deliverables for the desired outcomes and performance environment within an appropriate timeline. Students leverage multiple mediums, including artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, when designing instructional solutions to personalize learning and enhance user engagement. Students practice designing assessments that measure skill transfer in authentic situations. Prerequisite: EID-505.
Course Description: Organizations have specific learning needs that must be focused on organizational goals. This course explores the latest eLearning skills and strategies instructional designers can use to promote skill development for positive organizational impact. Additionally, students explore how to communicate effectively when managing a collaborative team, manage risk, and prevent project disruptions. Prerequisite: EID-505.
Course Description: This course is a culmination of all instructional design knowledge and skills students have developed throughout the instructional design program. Students are challenged to demonstrate their ability to be professional instructional designers. Students also develop a professional portfolio to show their preparation to work in the instructional design field. Prerequisite: EID-500, EID-505, EID-510, EID-515, EID-520, and EID-525.
