It was created in direct response to a recurring question raised by nurses working independently in aesthetics: not “what should I inject”, but “what paperwork, structures and systems do I actually need behind the scenes, and where do I even start?”
Who The Toolkits Are For
The toolkits are written for Registered Nurses in Ireland who:
• Are working independently, or setting up an independent aesthetic practice
• Deliver non-surgical aesthetic and cosmetic treatments, including prescription and non-prescription treatments
• Need to formalise their clinical governance, medicines management and patient documentation, but don't have an existing framework to build from
• Want a structured starting point that they can adapt to their own scope of practice, premises and working arrangements
What The Toolkits Are - and Are Not
The toolkit provides:
• Professionally structured templates designed to help you develop your own clinical governance documentation
• References to relevant legislation, regulatory guidance and professional standards, to orient your reading
• A logical framework for organising governance across your practice, from risk and audit through to patient records
The toolkit does not provide:
• A guarantee of NMBI, HPRA or HSA compliance - compliance depends on how these documents are completed, implemented and maintained in your specific clinic
• Legal, regulatory or clinical advice - you remain responsible for working within your own competence, training and scope of practice
• Injection technique, dosing or clinical decision-making guidance - this sits outside the scope of a governance toolkit and remains a matter for your own training and prescriber.
Every template in these toolkits is a starting point, not a finished document. Before use, each one should be reviewed, completed and - where appropriate - checked against current NMBI, HPRA and HSA guidance, and adapted to reflect your own premises, staffing, scope of practice and prescribing arrangements.
