Led by Clinicians. Grounded in Science.
Institute of Skin courses are delivered by Yvonne McNamara, a Registered Nurse with extensive experience across general practice, aesthetics, teaching and skin health.
Yvonne runs an active aesthetics clinic in Co. Galway where she delivers the full range of treatments taught at Institute of Skin. This means everything covered in training comes directly from real, current clinical practice - not a training room removed from real patients.
Her approach is evidence-based and patient-centred, with a particular focus on skin health, medical peels, microneedling, and regenerative treatments.
Our Philosophy
Good aesthetics training should prepare you for what actually happens in clinic - not just what happens in a textbook. At Institute of Skin, you will learn the science behind each treatment, the clinical reasoning for patient selection, and the practical technique to perform it safely and confidently.
We keep groups small deliberately. Two or three delegates per session means you get proper hands-on time, real feedback, and the space to ask questions.
A Note on Accreditation
Institute of Skin is a private training provider. Our courses are not QQI accredited. Certificates issued confirm attendance and successful completion of training which serve as proof of CPD hours completed.
Delegates are responsible for ensuring any treatments performed post-training fall within their professional scope of practice and are covered by their own indemnity insurance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need previous injectable experience? Some courses (such as Skin Boosters, Polynucleotide Training and Profhilo) are best suited to practitioners who already have some injectable experience. Others, like Medical Peels, Microneedling and Skin Fundamentals, are suitable as a starting point. If you're not sure which course is right for you, send us a message and we'll advise honestly.
Am I insured to practise after the course? You'll receive a certificate of completion for each course, which most insurers accept as evidence of training. It's your responsibility to check with your own insurer or professional indemnity provider before adding a new treatment to your menu, as requirements can vary.
What's included in the course fee? Every course includes a comprehensive training manual, hands-on practical training where applicable, and a certificate of completion. Specific inclusions are listed on each course page - if anything's unclear, just ask.
Can I reschedule if something comes up? Yes - we understand things happen. Please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer your place to someone else, and we'll find you an alternative date.
How many people are in each group? Groups are capped at 2-3 delegates. We keep numbers small deliberately, so everyone gets proper supervised practice time rather than watching from the back of a room.
Do you come to my clinic, or do I come to you? Both. Courses run from our Galway academy, or we can deliver training at your own clinic - useful if you'd rather train on your own equipment and space.
Is a deposit required to book? Yes, a deposit secures your place, with the balance due before the course date. Message us for current deposit terms.
Do I need to complete Science of Skin before a practical course? It's not compulsory, but it's a helpful foundation if you're newer to aesthetics or want a proper grounding in the science before moving into hands-on training.
