It's a truism that computing continues to change the world and our understanding of the world around us and the universe beyond. And although the Computer Science Department at Indiana University Bloomington maintains an extensive and up to date curriculum for non-majors we'd like to build an even better understanding of what the campus needs by establishing liaisons (adjunct faculty) in each school, department and/or program, with the very specific goal of discussing our non-major offerings so as to better determine, year after year, what new courses should be developed. We thus invite interested faculty to participate in our new CSCI Chair's Insight/Advisory Board.
The ideal participants are faculty members in fields other than Computer Science interested or willing to provide non-binding strategic advice/insight into what type of non-major courses would most benefit undergraduate students in that faculty member's department, school or field of expertise. Such a Board once formed (hopefully by the end of the Spring semester in 2019) will probably meet once or twice a year but its members could and should remain in touch throughout the academic year.
It is hoped that such an Advisory/Insight Board will increase communication not just between the CSCI Department and the other campus entities (be they departments, schools or programs) but also between these entities themselves as long as they have an interest into how computers may further influence/advance their specific area of scholarly interest and expertise. Interested faculty are therefore kindly invited to contact us stating their interest or with any comments, questions and/or suggestions.
