Our thesis remains that CSCI non-major students aim to be smart consumers (as far as Computer Science is concerned). In contrast, the goal of most (if not all ) CSCI major students is to eventually become high-quality providers (or producers) within our field. Faculty on the Insight Board should essentially consider themselves "customer advocates" representing their own areas and students (non-majors of CSCI). Being on the Insight Board does not beget additional responsibilities other than a willingness to share insight (when and if you have the time and inclination) from your unique perspective (i.e., the frame of reference that is specific to your field, domain, or area of expertise).
Another consequence/benefit would be for our department to form a better idea of course offerings suitable for our majors in other departments and schools on campus.
