Innis Residence Council Constitution

President

The president oversees the entire council but works most closely with the executive team. They are responsible for managing all the organization of the council and they moderate all meetings. They also get to make major decisions about the direction of the council. Primarily, they are everyone's first contact for all kinds of communication and they provide the structure of the council. Most importantly, the president has to be ready to support their team at all times.

Vice President Internal

The Vice President Internal is responsible for overseeing and organizing most of the members of the council. This includes hiring, training, and managing the communication between the junior and senior house reps , the committee co-chairs, and the council’s associates. The Vice President internal is also responsible for coordinating and running Innis’ monthly house olympics, as well as assisting in the planning of other council run events.

Vice President Social

The VP Social is responsible for co-ordinating exciting, extravagant, expansive events to include all residents. They are responsible for overseeing all event planning, ordering of items for residents, and facilitating communications amongst co-chairs and representatives on the IRC. This position is perfect for anyone with enthusiasm, creativity, and passion for event planning. Strong communication and collaboration skills are a must. This role is incredibly rewarding and gives the individual a lot of creative freedom.

Vice President Finance

The VP Finance oversees the budget and allocation of funds for all events throughout the year. If you enjoy working with numbers, learning practical financial planning skills and meeting new people from Innis, you should definitely apply for this position! You will have lots of opportunities to gain knowledge in finance and accounting and apply them in real-life situations. Some traits that will help you succeed in this role include being detail-oriented and organized.

Vice President Communications

The Vice President Communications is responsible for all general communications about or relating to the IRC both within the IRC and with the general residence body. This includes writing the meeting minutes of IRC general meetings, making said minutes publicly available, and writing the IRC newsletter. They are also responsible for keeping the IRC constitution up-to-date and overseeing the Social Media Marketing Directors. If you are organized and creative, this is a great role for you!

Running For An Executive Position

The elections officer (who oversees the election) is Mira Ghosh. Her email is elections@innisirc.com and you may email her at any time with questions or concerns.

Here are the steps to run for an executive position:

  1. Sign up using the form to the right to express your interest in running for a position.

  2. Once the nomination period begins (March 1st), you will be emailed with a form where residents can sign to nominate you. You need 9 e-signatures from residents (not dons or full-time OSL staff) to have your name on the ballot.

  3. Collect your nominations by midnight on March 11th.

  4. Attend the candidates meeting (March 12th at 12pm) to hear instructions about how to campaign and to go over the rules. If you can not attend this meeting, email elections@innisirc.com immediately to reschedule for an earlier date. You can not begin campaigning until you have attended some form of candidate's meeting with the elections officer.

  5. Create your campaign materials and attend democracy night.

  6. Take down all your posters by the beginning of voting and encourage your peers to vote.

  7. Sit tight and wait!
