What is Kendo?
What is Kendo?
Kendo is a martial art descended from Japanese swordsmanship involving the Katana. In modern Kendo, practitioners wear kendo-gu (protective armor) and use shinai (bamboo swords) to strike each other.
Kendo as a budo (martial art) aims to train the mind and bodies of practitioners and advance the development of one's character.
One of Kendo's biggest strengths is that it can be practiced by people of all ages, for one's whole life.
Educate yourself with Japanese culture and Samurai history.
Engage in a dynamic and active activity.
Build a community within a range of supportive and welcoming people.
Join our Beginners Course – (Teens and Adults).
Our Beginners Course is designed for people who are completely new to kendo.
You will learn about:
traditions and etiquette
footwork and movement skills
kendo strikes and techniques
practical life philosophies from the Samurai times.
