Kendo is a martial art descended from Japanese swordsmanship involving the Katana. In modern Kendo, practitioners wear kendo-gu (protective armor) and use shinai (bamboo swords) to strike each other.
Kendo as a budo (martial art) aims to train the mind and bodies of practitioners and advance the development of one's character.
One of Kendo's biggest strengths is that it can be practiced by people of all ages, for one's whole life.
