Welcome to Inner Therapist, a personalized AI-powered mental health and wellness application available on iOS ("App", "Service"). Inner Therapist is operated by an individual developer ("I", "me", "my"). This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the App.
By downloading, installing, or using Inner Therapist, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Inner Therapist is intended for use by individuals who are 18 years of age or older. By using the App, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. If you are under 18, you must not use this App. The App is available globally; however, depending on your location, additional legal rights and obligations may apply as described in the sections below.
When you register and use Inner Therapist, I collect the following information that you provide voluntarily:
Full name and email address (for account creation and authentication)
Mental health and wellness information shared during AI chat therapy sessions
Mood tracking entries and mood-related data
Journal entries and written reflections
Responses and interactions with features such as affirmations and breathwork exercises
When you use the App, certain technical information is collected automatically:
Device information (device type, model, operating system version)
Internet Protocol (IP) address
App usage data (features used, frequency of use, session duration, timestamps)
Crash reports and diagnostic information
Push notification interaction data (if you have enabled notifications)
The App processes sensitive personal information, specifically mental health information that you share during AI therapy sessions, journaling, and mood tracking. This information is used solely to provide and personalise the Service. I treat this information with the highest level of care and do not use it for advertising or sell it to any third party.
Inner Therapist is a subscription-based app. All payments are processed securely through Apple's In-App Purchase system. I do not collect, store, or process your payment card details. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for information on how Apple handles your payment data.
I use the information collected for the following purposes:
To create and manage your account and authenticate your identity
To provide and operate the AI-powered therapy, mood tracking, journaling, breathwork, and affirmations features
To personalise your experience — your data is used to allow the AI to provide context-aware, personalised responses tailored to your history and preferences
To improve and maintain the App's functionality and performance
To analyse usage patterns (via PostHog) to understand how features are used and how to improve them
To send service-related communications (e.g., account updates, support responses)
To send push notifications, if you have enabled them
To comply with applicable legal obligations
To investigate and prevent fraud, security breaches, and misuse of the App
Important note on AI personalisation: Your session data (chat history, mood logs, journal entries) is used to provide personalised AI responses within the App. This data is processed by AI model providers (such as large language model APIs) to generate responses. I do not use your data to train general-purpose AI models that are shared with or sold to third parties.
To operate the App, I share your data with the following trusted third-party service providers who are contractually obligated to process your data only as instructed and to protect it:
Firebase (Google LLC) — backend infrastructure, user authentication, database storage, and push notifications. Data is stored in the us-central1 region.
PostHog — product analytics platform used to understand feature usage and app performance. PostHog may collect anonymised or pseudonymised usage data.
AI Language Model Providers — large language model APIs used to generate AI therapy responses. Your chat session content is transmitted to these providers to generate personalised replies. These providers are bound by their own data processing and privacy terms.
Apple Inc. — payment processing via In-App Purchase and App Store services.
Tiktok Business Ads SDK — Used for app event monitoring for TikTok Ads Campaigns
I may disclose your personal information when required to do so by law, court order, government authority, or to protect my legal rights, safety, or the safety of others.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified of any such change through a prominent notice in the App or via email.
I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information — including your sensitive mental health data — to any third party for commercial or advertising purposes.
Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers located in the us-central1 (Iowa, United States) region. By using the App, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
I implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including:
Firebase's built-in security rules and access controls
Secure authentication mechanisms
However, no method of data transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While I strive to protect your data, I cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the App at your own risk in this regard.
I retain your personal information for as long as your account is active and for as long as necessary to provide the Service. If you delete your account, your data will be permanently deleted from active systems within 60 days of the deletion request. Certain data may be retained for a limited period in secure backup archives before being permanently purged.
Aggregated or anonymised data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytical purposes.
You have the right to access the personal information I hold about you and to request corrections if it is inaccurate. You may do so by contacting me at innertherapist05@gmail.com.
You may delete your account at any time through the App's account settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed from active databases within 60 days. Please note that once deleted, your therapy session history, journal entries, and mood logs cannot be recovered.
Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting me. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out prior to withdrawal.
You can enable or disable push notifications at any time through your iOS device settings.
Depending on your location, you may have the following additional rights:
European Union / EEA / UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): Right to access, rectification, erasure ("right to be forgotten"), restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): Right to know what personal information is collected and how it is used, right to delete your personal information, right to opt out of the sale of personal information (note: I do not sell personal information), right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights, and the right to limit use of sensitive personal information.
India Residents (DPDP Act 2023): Right to access information about your personal data, right to correction and erasure, right to grievance redressal, and the right to nominate a person to exercise rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity.
Other Jurisdictions: I will endeavour to honour reasonable data rights requests from users in all jurisdictions in accordance with applicable local law.

Inner Therapist is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. I do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If I become aware that a user under 18 has created an account, I will promptly delete their account and associated data. If you believe a minor has used the App, please contact me immediately.
Inner Therapist uses AI language models to provide personalised mental health support. Please be aware of the following:
The AI is fully automated. There are no human therapists or licensed mental health professionals involved in reviewing or generating responses.
Inner Therapist is a wellness and support tool, not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified healthcare professional or emergency services.
Your conversation content is transmitted to AI model providers to generate responses. These providers process your data under their own privacy and data processing agreements.
AI-generated responses may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your specific circumstances. Use the App with this understanding.
The App may reference or link to third-party services (such as Apple's App Store). I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. I encourage you to review their privacy policies independently.
As a global app, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, where Firebase servers are located. I take steps to ensure that any such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws, including relying on appropriate transfer mechanisms where required (such as Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers from the EU/EEA).
Some browsers and devices offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is currently no universally accepted standard for responding to DNT signals, and the App does not currently alter its data collection practices in response to DNT signals. If this changes, this policy will be updated.
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, applicable laws, or my practices. The updated policy will be posted within the App and the "Last Updated" date at the top will be revised. For material changes, I will notify you through a prominent in-app notice or via email. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
