We are seeking early career researchers who are graduate students (e.g., masters or doctoral students), postdoctoral fellows, or assistant professors.
You need to have
1) Access to record-level data on injuries ("Cases"), e.g., data from hospitals, police records, insurance records, or other data about cases (i.e., those who were injured).
2) You also need the ability to collect data about "controls", i.e., those who were not injured but that are at risk of injury. These could also be similar records, or could be collected via fieldwork or surveys.
Preliminary data will need to be collected by Sept 2026 at the latest in order to present at the Safety 2026 conference.
1) We hope that all participants will be able to participate and present their work at Safety 2026 in Cape Town, South Africa. We cannot guarantee travel support, but we will have some funds to support some of the collaborators. We are actively seeking additional resources to support additional collaborators.
2) We expect findings will be published as a special collection in a leading injury prevention journal.
We will provide mentorship in designing, conducting, and analyzing case-control studies, in-person and virtual training sessions in New Delhi, Bogota, and Kampala. We will also provide mentorship in manuscript development and provide support in applying for additional funding opportunities as they become available.
We do not have access to funding to support data collection or analysis. While we cannot guarantee travel support, we have limited funds to support the participation of selected collaborators in training sessions and at Safety 2026. We will also continue to seek additional resources to expand this support.
