Our laboratory is conducting research in two main areas:Β
1) Wearable Electronic Materials and Devices
-Β We synthesize polymers using various materials and combine them with ionic liquids to create ion gels. These ion gels are analyzed for their unique properties, such as thermal, mechanical, electrochemical, and rheological characteristics. Our goal is to develop functional ion gels that can be applied to diverse fields, including electronic materials and wearable devices.
2) Thermally Conductive Epoxy for Semiconductor Packaging process
- We aim to enhance the mechanical and thermal properties of epoxy flux used in TC-NCF (Thermo-compression Non-conductive Film), a High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) manufacturing technique employed by companies like Samsung Electronics and Micron Technology. This involves designing epoxy/filler composites and analyzing their intrinsic material properties.

We welcome applications from M.S., and Ph.D. Researchers from around the globe who are interested in advancing the frontier of ion gel characterization and controlled polymer synthesis. We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, and all related fields, who have experience in material science and polymer engineering.
If this opportunity interests you, we kindly request that you send us your CV along with a cover letter and a scanned copy of your academic transcript to Prof. Sangwon Kim. Please use the subject line 'student (or researcher) application' to ensure your application is promptly and appropriately processed.
