Participants must build a cantilevered wooded structure that can a support a weight a set distance away from a wall. The structure may only touch the wall in certain areas. Points are determined by the efficiency (mass carried / build mass) of the build. Additional points are given for being able to hold the maximum of 15 kg.

Participants must build a temperature measuring device capable of determining the temperature of water samples. More points are awarded for more accurate measurements. Participants must also be able to provide a Design Log of their device. In addition to the build, participants are to take a written test relating to the construction of temperature measuring devices.
Participants are to build a ramp along with a vehicle. During testing, the vehicle is to be rolled down the ramp and stop at designated target spot using only gravity as a means for propulsion. More points are awarded for getting to the target quickly and accurately. The vehicle must also be able to be attached and released from the ramp via a loading mechanism.
This event consists of a 20-minute written test in addition to the usual build. The test will cover topics such as levers, inclined planes, and wedges among other forms of work-manipulating machines. The device that must be built will consist of a of 1st-class lever in addition to a 2nd or 3rd-class lever and must be able to determine the ratio between different weights. More points are awarded for accurately determining the ratio.
Participants must build a musical device that can accommodate for 2 octaves on the 12-note equal tempered scale. The device will be tested for the accuracy of the pitch that it produces.
