PDF Handy is a PDF reading and processing app that prioritizes local processing. We aim to process your documents on your device and transmit the data needed for cloud features only when you choose to use those features.
In this policy
Data we process
Advertising, partners and consent
Camera, OCR and biometrics
Data security and retention
Your choices and rights
Children, changes and contact
1. Data we process
Basic reading, the document library, scanning, annotations, visual signatures, read-only Office previews and common local conversions are processed on your device by default. The app uses the Android system file picker to access files or folders you choose. It does not request access to all files on your device.
When you choose cloud OCR, AI summaries, questions and answers, translation, standard annotation export or cloud security processing, the app explains the purpose, processing region and retention period before the operation. After you confirm, it uploads the documents, images or other input needed for that task. Original cloud files and processing results are retained for up to 24 hours by default. You can delete cloud files or cloud identity data earlier through the Privacy Center in the app's personal settings area.
The app generates a random installation identifier to run tasks, enforce quotas and synchronize Premium entitlements. This identifier is not your real name, phone number or email address. Google Play processes purchases. We receive only the product ID, purchase token and purchase status needed to verify purchases and grant entitlements. We do not receive payment card information.
Email accounts are optional. When you choose to sign in, we process your email address, account identifier, one-time sign-in link verification information, sessions and device records for authentication, task association, access across devices and account security. Our email service sends sign-in messages, account deletion confirmations and support feedback that you choose to submit. If you choose cloud preference backup, we store your selected appearance, reading and notification preferences until you delete the backup or your account. Support feedback contains the text you submit and the email address needed to reply. Diagnostic files leave your device only when you explicitly export or attach them. We do not currently send marketing emails.
We process app events and diagnostic information that do not contain document content, such as the app version, Android version, device model, language and time zone, feature category, success or failure status, error codes and elapsed time. Logs and analytics must not contain file names, file paths, document contents, OCR text, passwords, signature images or the content of questions submitted to AI features.
2. Advertising, partners and consent
The free version may display ads through Google Mobile Ads and its configured mediation partners. The advertising partners currently included in the app are:
Meta Audience Network
Pangle / ByteDance
AppLovin
Liftoff Monetize / Vungle
Which partners actually receive ad requests depends on the AdMob configuration, region, available ad inventory and your consent status.
These advertising SDKs may process approximate location inferred from your IP address, advertising identifiers or other device identifiers, device and app attributes, ad interactions, crash logs, diagnostics and other performance information. They use this information to deliver and measure ads, perform analytics, prevent fraud, maintain security and meet compliance requirements.
The app uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain or update consent status in applicable regions. Advertising is initialized and requested only when UMP permits ad requests. Where required by law, you can manage your choices again through the app's advertising privacy options in personal settings. Premium does not request, cache or display ads.
3. Camera, OCR and biometrics
The camera is used only for document scans you initiate. You can refuse camera permission or revoke it in Android settings. Google ML Kit document scanning and text recognition process necessary device, app and diagnostic information. Its official terms state that input images, text and recognition results are processed on your device and are not sent to Google.
The local vault can be unlocked through Android's system biometric interface. The app does not receive or store biometric data such as fingerprints or facial templates.
4. Data security and retention
Production network requests use HTTPS. Vault files are encrypted on your device using keys protected by Android Keystore. Cloud tasks use short-lived authorization, access controls and a default 24-hour expiration period for results. Backups, caches and logs must follow the established retention policy.
Advertising partners retain and delete the data they process under their own privacy policies. Their retention periods may differ from PDF Handy's 24-hour cloud task file retention period. The partner privacy policies linked above explain their choices and access and deletion procedures.
Email accounts, sessions, preferences and task metadata have different retention periods from temporary processing files. They are retained for as long as needed to provide account services, restore tasks, track usage or provide support, and can be removed through account deletion or a data deletion request.
Cloud features may process data on servers outside your country or region. Document AI currently uses models running on our servers. Choosing a summary or question-and-answer feature does not directly send your documents to an external general-purpose chat service.
5. Your choices and rights
You can use local reading and processing features without using any cloud features. You can refuse camera permission, revoke folder access, manage advertising privacy choices, export cloud data, delete cloud files or delete cloud identity data. Deleting a cloud identity does not delete local PDFs or vault files on your device.
Email account users can open the Account section in the app's personal settings, choose Delete Account, request a confirmation email and complete deletion. Account deletion removes associated account information, sessions, preferences, tasks and their cloud files. It does not delete original files or vault files on your device.
You can also request deletion through our support email using the account and data deletion page, without installing the app. We verify ownership of the email address before processing the request. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a Google Play subscription. Manage subscription renewal through Google Play.
To request access to, correction of or deletion of your data, or to ask a privacy question, contact support@aicloudside.com. We handle requests in accordance with applicable law. If transaction or security records must be retained by law, we will explain the reason and retention period.
6. Children, changes and contact
This app is not specifically designed for children. If the intended audience or advertising configuration changes, we will reassess the age rating and applicable family policies.
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update its effective date and, where necessary, notify you in the app.
