Stop Gmail From Adding The Important Label To Your Email

If Gmail continues to add "important" tags to your emails and you want to do so instead, here's how to disable it.

Several months ago, various new emails started appearing from my Gmail pva account, adding "important" tags. Since I don’t use tags in my email, I thought it was more than a bit weird.

I use a third party email program to access all emails and any email with the Google "Important" tag, I will not verify this tag and this email tag will disappear. New spam will always appear labeled "Important".

If you have the same, you should follow the steps below to avoid adding any "important" tags to important emails that Google considers "important."

Please note that these changes can only be made using the Gmail web interface, not through the Gmail app or third party email programs. Changes to the web interface apply to any third party email client or application.

  1. In a web browser, open Gmail (https://mail.google.com)
  2. At the top right, click the Settings icon and select "Settings"
  3. Click on the Inbox tab
  4. In the "Signifiers" section, select "No Bookmarks"
  5. At the bottom of the page, click "Save Changes" or make sure your changes aren't saved.

These steps should work if you use the default or preferred inbox type.

Since this is a system rating, these changes will remove the "Important" tag from using Gmail.

Instead you can create a new section for easy use. Select an email, click the sticker icon, select "Create New", enter a name for your poster, click "Create" and your poster will appear when you click the poster icon

I followed these steps a few months ago and everything was fine until the last few weeks, when some emails started showing the "important" tag. If the answer is yes, repeat these steps:

  1. Contact Gmail (https://mail.google.com) using the browser
  2. Click the Settings icon in the top right corner
  3. Select settings "
  4. Click on the Inbox tab

Make these two additional changes:

  1. Select the button next to "Import labels" next to "Do not use my previous actions to guess important messages"
  2. Do not replace fil filters in the `` Filter Mail 'section directly below the highlight. Select the button next to next.

Be sure to click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the page

Or, you can make these two extra changes from scratch.

These steps prevent Google from setting a "critical" rating for messages in the Gmail inbox.
