I was terrified, I had never been chased by a dog in my entire life. Mom had warned me never to go out of the house at night, she said it was too dangerous, she wouldn't say why it was too dangerous for me but not for her or even my little brother Eddie. I knew it was related to my abnormal uniqueness, I knew because mom would always rush me into my room when we had even the most insignificant visitor at night, I knew she was trying to hide me but I could only guess why, i was born this way, she said she was trying to keep me safe.
You see, I really glow blue at night, I think it should be a wonderful thing to show the world or at least my friends, I see it as my uniqueness but mom doesn't, she looks at a radiating blue me and only sees an endangered specie. I understand now though.
I couldn't find my medallion. I had owned this pendant since as long as I can remember, I feel it is part of me, my most valued treasure. I was almost certain i dropped it on my way home earlier on, I couldn't sleep comfortably if I didn't have it, I had to go and look for it, mom wouldn't let me go if I told her so as you might have guessed, I sneaked out.
I was getting really tired, but the dog would not stop chasing me, it was determined to get a chunk of blue. "Wat the heck did I get my self Into" I was thinking when I stumbled on something, perhaps a tree root, I fell hard against the floor, I could have sworn I heard the dog say "yummy", I trembled, I shut my eyes real hard and let out a loud yell, s
ilence, then again I could hear the hasty pattering of an escaping dog at a distance, it seemed hurt because it was actually limping and whining. Still trembling I hurried away to my house. I barged into the house through the front door and almost barged into my mom who was apparently making to use the door. My mom's name is Kaila.
KAILA'S POV
I was scared to the bones when I went to jemma's room to check on her and she wasn't there, that was unusual, she never leaves the house at night, I made sure of that. I called her name thrice, my thundering voice must have woken a few neighbours, she didn't reply, 'could she have left her room?', I thought. To clear my doubt; her window was wide open and a grapple hook was hanging over the window, a rope was tied to it, she must have sneaked out through that window because there was no way she could have left the house without anyone noticing, i mean she does emit a radiation strong enough to luminate a whole room.
I rushed out, I had to find her before anyone else does. Before I could even touch the door knob, she barged in and bumped into me, i grabbed the door handle and bolted it shut.she stood still staring at me, I could see the regrets filled in her glowing eyes. I grabbed her hand and dragged her upstairs, she was scared and she pleaded on the way,she knew I would spank her, and that I did, I gave her a resounding slap immediately we entered her room and pushed her to the bed, “you deserve more than that" I retorted and bolted her door from the outside.
JEMMA'S POV
I have never seen such anger from my mum before, she hardly flogs me, as a matter of fact, I have never been beaten before, even at school, any one that gets me angry, gets there own cup of the tea, and my mum knows that, for her to have slapped me, it must have hurt her deep inside.
I was very angry at myself for two reasons, one, I shouldn't have gone out and two, I should have informed her, my mum was everything to me and my kid brother Eddie, she has taken care of us ever since my dad disappeared, since then she played the role of a dad as well as a mum, let's just say she's a super mum.
What was i thinking, going out to look for my medallion at this dead time of the night, there is something about this necklace that draws me close to it, my mum said I owned it Since I was three, maybe that's why I was so attached to it, now I have lost it for good, it must have fallen when I stumbled, I walked towards the window and closed it, mum must have taken out the rope and grapple cuz it was not there. I went back to the bed, my heart still longed for the medallion, it haven't been long but I already missed it, I layed down and closed my eyes,
Not long after I closed my eyes, I heard a loud noise as something fell into my room, I stood up, my window was shattered, the almaco glass was almost in particles, I looked down, thinking of what might have caused the explosion, and there it was, shining brightly blue,. My medallion.
