Why should I join?
You become an advocate for all children, including your own. Research shows that students do better when their families are involved both at home and at school. Being active on the PTA is also a fantastic way to get to know teachers, staff, and other parents. Our events are funded annually, so your child will directly benefit from your support. PTA members support the school in ways budget cuts have made impossible for the school alone. You become a member of a team, working for the well-being of our children. Your membership fee is directed to the state and national PTA which is the main source of advocacy at the government level for our children.
How do I join the PTA?
Follow the Join PTA link at the top of our home page to submit your dues, which are $6.00 per person.
I joined last year – do I need to join again?
Yes. All parents and teachers/staff need to renew their membership each year as we run our PTA programs on an annual basis.
Why do I need to pay to renew?
Our membership dues cover the cost of the New Mexico State and National PTA and help offset some administrative costs. PTA programs at Inez Elementary are made possible through fundraising efforts, not membership dues.
What if I’ve already joined PTA at my other child’s school? Do I need to join twice?
Each school runs their school PTA separately and independently of each other. So, it is helpful and important to join the PTA at each school you have a child attending, thereby having a voice at each school.
What if the cost to join/renew is outside my budget?
If joining the PTA is a financial burden, we can find other ways for you to help!
Does joining mean I’m required to volunteer or attend meetings?
Nope. Joining does not obligate you to do anything more than being a member of the PTA. You are not required to donate, volunteer or attend PTA meetings but we always welcome your help and input. We do encourage you to attend meetings so your voice will be heard.
Volunteering with the PTA is a fantastic way to get to know teachers, staff and other parents. You can volunteer in many ways, it does not have to be during the day and in class. You can volunteer by making copies, doing work at home for teachers or helping with events in the evening, among other opportunities.
When and Where the does the PTA meet?
Meetings are held in September, January, and April. Announcements with specific details will be made 1-2 weeks prior to the meeting.
How can I help the PTA? I want to volunteer but don’t know where to start?
Inez parents, grandparents and community members can help by becoming a member and/or volunteering your time. You can volunteer your time by filling out a short form on our volunteer page and returning it to the front office. You can also call or email us at InezMagnetPTA@gmail.com. We can discuss your interests and current volunteer opportunities.
Does the PTA have a teacher representative?
Yes, Kelsie Cnare is available to teachers and staff members who have questions regarding the Inez PTA.
I already donated or plan to donate to the fundraiser – is this the same as joining PTA?
Thank you for your support. But the yearly fundraisers are separate from membership dues and are the primary source of funding for all our programs each year. When possible, we ask families to purchase a PTA membership as well as donate to the fundraiser as much as their resources allow.
How does the PTA raise money?
The PTA runs a variety of active and passive fundraisers throughout the year. The majority of our funds are generated from our active fundraisers such as the Fall Carnival and the Fun Run. Please check out our fundraiser page for a more detailed listing.
Does the PTA recognize staff & teachers’ efforts?
Yes, the PTA coordinates an appreciation meal & staff/facility gift on teacher appreciation day in May.
Does the PTA support individual classrooms?
Yes, the PTA provides an annual allotment of $150 per classroom to be used for expense items such as transportation costs for an off-campus field trip.
