Inez Magnet Elementary has a long history of support from parent/teacher groups. The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is the oldest and largest child advocacy association in the America. Today's PTA members are comprised of parents, teachers, staff members, grandparents, caregivers and other caring adults who share a commitment to improving education, health, and safety for all children.
While basic public education in the United States is "free," it cannot be sustained without support from our families, teachers, and community members and partners to support the educational needs of our students. Our public education system relies on the generous support of parents and others for volunteering and supplemental financial support. Without the PTA at Inez Elementary, our students would have fewer off-campus field trips, less classroom support, fewer school-wide enrichment activities, and greater financial contribution demands on all our families for school, grade, and class events. Our school would look and feel very different without the efforts of our PTA.
In years passed, the PTA has supported a number of educational and community building activities which include:
Educational: Science Expo Week family night
Classroom Assistance: funding for an off-campus community outing, staff appreciation, PTA/parent room, picture day, facilitate fundraising events such as the Fun Run
Social Events: "Meet the Teacher", "Kinder Night" event, Popcorn Fridays, Water Play day, support of the Inez Family Picnic
Community: Veteran's appreciation event, Family Nights in collaboration with our Community Schools/Children's Choice partner
How can YOU support our school community? There are a variety of ways any individual can support the PTA and our school.
The FIRST WAY is to join the PTA, which is $6.00 per individual annually. This provides you with online access to the National PTA association membership site & newsletter, membership to the New Mexico PTA, allows you to vote on annual PTA items such as budget and officers, and shows your support of our school community.
The SECOND WAY is to find out how you would like to contribute. Considered volunteering? Have some time each week? Or just in the evening every once in a while? Want to help in the classrooms? Want to help with a single event? Have community connections? There are so many ways to be involved. Volunteering is NOT mandatory but is encouraged and definitely appreciated!
The THIRD WAY is through financial support. We typically have a Fall event, Spring event, and matching contribution campaign. These events are our main sources of funding for our annual budget for items listed above.
