Begining of SwaveArt Project
Our journey into the heart of community-centric creativity began in the vibrant classrooms of Queen Margaret University, where a diverse tapestry of minds converged with a singular purpose: to explore the depths of creative enterprise. It was here, amidst the fervour of learning and exchange of ideas, that we encountered a case study that would profoundly reshape our understanding of the role of creativity in community development: the Artscape Wychwood Barns project.
This exploration into the Artscape initiative opened our eyes to the transformative power of community-based projects. It was a revelation, a moment of clarity in which the importance of community engagement and collaboration crystallised before us. Through the lens of Artscape Wychwood Barns, we saw the tangible impact of nurturing communal spaces where art and creativity serve as catalysts for social cohesion and cultural enrichment.
Inspired by this newfound perspective and driven by our collective backgrounds in creative disciplines, we were compelled to channel our energies into a project that would not only harness our artistic talents but also serve a greater purpose. Thus, the seed for Beespirit was sown. The vision was clear: to assemble a collective of artists and creators from various industries, leveraging our diverse skill sets to ignite the flame of creativity within our local communities. Our ambition was to transcend the conventional boundaries of art-making, transforming it into a vehicle for communal growth and personal development.
Beespirit aimed to bring the vibrancy of creative expression to community centres and schools, offering workshops and sessions designed to spark the imaginative spirit of the younger generation. We envisioned a world where creativity was not confined to the realms of professional artists but was accessible to all, a fundamental aspect of everyday life that encouraged exploration, innovation, and expression.
However, as we delved deeper into the practicalities of bringing Beespirit to life, we encountered the harsh realities of charitable ventures. The reliance on donations and external funding presented a formidable challenge, one that necessitated a pivot in our approach. It was during this period of reflection and research that SwaveArt was born—a project that retained the essence of community engagement and creativity but was underpinned by a sustainable business model.
SwaveArt embodies the belief that art can be a conduit for joy and emotional resonance. We recognized that everyone has sounds in their life that evoke deep, personal emotions—the laughter of a child, the comforting bark of a beloved pet, or the tranquil sounds of nature. SwaveArt's mission is to capture these auditory treasures and transform them into tangible pieces of art that serve as anchors of happiness and serenity in our hectic lives. Whether it's unwinding after a long day with the sound of your daughter's voice encapsulated in a keychain or being transported to a moment of peace by a 3D lamp illuminating a soundwave, SwaveArt is about preserving those fleeting moments of joy.
As we forge ahead, our commitment to community and creativity remains the bedrock of SwaveArt. We continue to envision future community-based projects, each rooted in the ethos of bringing happiness and creative inspiration to every corner of our society. SwaveArt is not just a business; it's a testament to the enduring power of sound, art, and community to enrich our lives in profound and unexpected ways.

Our first ideas and creations that we were working on as a collective
The question we have asked each other: is this idea unique enough?
The answer we found immediately while presenting it to our classmates in our culture project class was, YES
These are our first sound wave products that we played with creating various shapes in different materials such as wood and acrylic.
We have created these incredible images that are showcasing visual art that could be composed from sound wave
Research:
Personally, Marcela went back to Adam Smith Theatre to get more information about this laser but she discovered that it does not support metal cutting and the one that they have in Fife College is better. Metal cutting was an idea for different products that we can do. For now we have to omit this product.
But, if we want to use this space in Adam Smith to create other items, three of us can have the room for a full day for 20-25£ just need to email Ross and he can give us a quick training for laser etc. Marcela was also thinking that it would be cool to take some pictures of us all working in this nice space and we can use it for our website or personal blogs.

The Transition from Three to Two
In November, our team found itself facing a significant shift. While we were eager to create beautiful pieces for our studio clients, we encountered challenges due to the absence of our third member support. Despite this setback, we remained determined to press forward with our SwaveArt project. Throughout December, we were getting ready for our upcoming pitch presentation, not getting upset by the changes in our team dynamics.

Draft example of SwaveArt Pitch Presentation
Welcome to our SwaveArt presentation
Let me introduce to you Jakub, he is a Photographer and Videographer, Graphic designer
And this is Marcela, she is a Beauty Therapist and a Special Effects Make-up Artist.
Our third member is Billy, he is a Music Producer and Drummer. Unfortunately, he couldn’t join us today but here is a short video of Billy who will tell you a bit about himself and his interest in the project.
For producing a cultural project, we decided to name our project SwaveArt
Why SwaveArt?
when we mention “art,” many immediately associate it with something that they can look at and appreciate. However, we have taken our skills and our creative mindsets to another level and experienced brand-new ideas that are taking us to a start-up business.
Our mission Obejectives
· Create a unique platform where sound is transformed into personalised visual art.
· Craft eco-friendly art pieces that capture the essence of cherished moments.
· Promote the therapeutic and healing properties of sound through sound wave art.
· Establish a sustainable business model that supports local communities. Starting a collaborative journey with Andy’s Man Club.
· Offer a diverse range of products that cater to a wide audience.
At SwaveArt, we have redefined the art of sound. We take recorded sound, whether it's heartfelt wedding vows, a baby's first laughter, or powerful words of I Love You, and transform it into a stunning soundwave art collection.
What are we doing?
· We offer a variety of personalised products, like cool keyrings, mesmerising 3D lamps, and captivating wall art.
· Our goal is to provide unique items that let you experience and celebrate sound in a fresh and special way/form
· Our journey goes beyond selling products; it's about crafting experiences and enabling people to celebrate their stories in a profoundly artistic manner.
· We believe that art has the power to connect on a deep emotional level, and that's the essence of SwaveArt.
Charitable: how we can be a charitable business/company:
· donations: money from the first product sale went to Ecology, and reforestation project in Madagascar
· community engagement and support
· socially responsible practices: operating ethically
· environmental responsibility: embracing environmentally friendly practices and sustainability
Reflection for pitch presentation:
As evident from above, we both ensured that all areas of our project were thoroughly addressed. However, this might not have translated seamlessly during our live presentation as I was too nervous and Jakub’s too enthusiastic demeanour. Overall, the entire experience was incredible. From the start of the preparation, we were guided by our lecturer who provided comprehensive explanations in detail of all aspects of the pitch presentation.
Our first client for SwaveArt studio recording
Since our Pitch presentation, we've been busy crafting items for the clients we collaborated with back in November at the studio. Our first client was Tina, our lecturer, whose recordings inspired us to showcase products for our presentation. We designed a keyring featuring a sound wave image with an embedded NFC chip, allowing the sound to be listened to on YouTube. Next, we created a personalised lamp with a sound wave image, featuring a 3D-designed base with an embedded NFC chip. Inspired by these projects, we've since come up with another idea that incorporates the wooden elements we're keen to integrate into our items.

Our second client for SwaveArt studio recording
Our second client for SwaveArt studio recordings was a lovely couple expressing their love for each other. We designed two prototypes and one final product for them, which we gifted to them just before Christmas. During this time, we were experimenting with various sprays, aiming for brighter and more colourful hues. However, as the project evolved, we began leaning towards exploring more natural colour palettes.

Final product that we have produced for the couple as a Christmas present from our team as a thank you.
An NFC chip has been embedded into this exquisite piece of art, which holds the recording of the lovely couple.
Our third client for SwaveArt project
As this project is one-of-a-kind, with items uniquely designed by us, I was on the lookout for expecting parents willing to share a scan recording of their baby's heartbeat while still pregnant. Despite receiving a few rejections, I remained persistent in my search. Finally, I found someone who was not only happy but also excited about our project. With confidence, she shared the original recording with us, trusting that we would keep it confidential, which we assured her we would.
Design planning is indeed crucial for achieving a successful outcome, especially when taking on unique challenges like creating something for a client with specific cultural preferences. In this case, being Greek, I embraced the opportunity to craft something truly distinctive. By setting this challenge for myself, I aimed to create a design that not only meets the client's needs but also resonates deeply with her cultural background. Through careful research, creative exploration, and attention to detail, I'm committed to delivering a design that exceeds expectations and celebrates the richness of Greek heritage.
Step by step:
Our SwaveArt website and social media present
Our SwaveArt website and social media presence have been an integral part of our journey. While we can currently only share screenshots of our website, which ran until the end of February, we've transitioned to our main business page to optimise costs. However, rest assured that the SwaveArt project lives on. We have seamlessly integrated it into our main website, www.davincienterprise.co.uk, under a dedicated section called SwaveArt. Here, we will continue to explore new and endless possibilities, building on the foundation we have established. Below are some screenshots of our past website for your reference.

SwaveArt website
As difficult as it was to bid farewell to our SwaveArt website, it marked an important milestone in our journey towards establishing a strong brand presence. Despite the challenges, I take pride in the fact that I was able to independently manage and maintain the website once it was set up. I ensured that all necessary information was added, laying a solid foundation for our online presence. While saying goodbye to SwaveArt was bittersweet, it paved the way for greater opportunities in the world of branding.
Let us take you back to the beginning of SwaveArt transitioning to DaVinci Enterprise Ltd
We embarked on our journey with a fresh and unique idea, despite not knowing each other before our business degree. Discovering our shared interests in community engagement, we were determined to build a great team for our project.
In October, as we began creating, we realised the potential to do more than just work on a few ideas. Through brainstorming sessions, we explored new possibilities and discovered the limitations of relying solely on sound-based products for revenue generation.
By November, we had invested in resources and decided to incorporate wooden elements into our new products for our Tuesday class. I closely consulted with Jakub on new ideas, quickly moving away from those that didn't resonate while expanding on promising concepts, leading to product sales in the November and December holiday session.
Upon seeing a post on LinkedIn about the All-staff event, we reached out to the organisation. After showcasing our SwaveArt website and new products, we were invited to the event, motivating us to develop a stock for the occasion. We worked on photoshoots, website updates, branding, and even ordered t-shirts featuring the SwaveArt logo and QR code for easy access to our pages. However, as we invested our own money into the venture, we needed to start accepting proper payments from customers, particularly at the event.
Despite our eagerness, we encountered challenges in setting up payment methods like card readers or cash machines due to the need to register the company first. Eventually, in mid-January, we officially registered as DaVinci Enterprise Ltd, allowing us to move forward with confidence. We conducted thorough research into our options, consulting with the business gateway, accountant, and experienced business owners before making our decision. The All-staff event provided the final push we needed to take this important step.
Why DaVinci Enterprise ?
Choosing the name DaVinci Enterprise was a deliberate decision that stemmed from careful consideration and inspiration. We extensively explored our options using online tools to ensure the name wasn't already taken. Ultimately, we asked ourselves who inspired us the most, and the answer became clear. DaVinci's name resonated with us due to its association with innovation and creativity. Moreover, it seamlessly integrated with the term "enterprise," signifying our ambition to build a successful business venture.
When it came to designing the logo, we wanted something memorable and visually striking. Jakub ingeniously incorporated the Mona Lisa into the letter "D," resulting in a unique and eye-catching design. We both agreed that the design bore a resemblance to iconic logos like Starbucks, which made it even more appealing. We believed that a distinctive logo would help people easily recognise and associate our brand with quality and creativity.
Preparation for All staff even
The event occurred on the 1st of February at Fife College St. Brycedale Campus, and we worked tirelessly to ensure all necessary items were prepared. I suggested creating keyrings featuring the Fife College logo, which proved to be a hit. When Pippa, the boss, visited our stall and immediately sought out the marketing representative, it was clear they loved our ideas and wanted them for their goody bags.
Overall, it was our very first event, and we made just under £400 in less than three hours. However, for us, the significance went beyond the financial aspect; it was about introducing ourselves to the entire staff at Fife College. Given my role in the Faculty of Creative Industry, I knew several people there, and we surprised them and many others by presenting our projects and company.
This event led to further opportunities; Liam Brown from Bridge 2 Business invited us to another event, and James Bisset invited us to the Tree in the Park event on the 25th of May in Dunfermline.
Since the event, we've been in contact with John Elliott, who discussed a new design for the bistro academy during the all-staff event.
Attached are pictures for reference:
Our next Event took place in Kirkcaldy
This event presented an incredible opportunity to connect with the local community. We took advantage of it by creating leaflets and promoting them on our social media platforms. During the event, we had the perfect chance to explain the SwaveArt project in detail. Several attendees showed interest, sharing stories and envisioning how our products could be perfect gifts for their loved ones. It was gratifying to see the enthusiasm and engagement from the community first-hand.
Since then, I have been actively reaching out to various events and market organisations in Fife. We're currently on the waiting list for the Rosyth Community Market, which I visited out of curiosity to get a sense of what to expect if we are selected.
Additionally, I have applied for the Rose & Thistle Market in St. Andrews, scheduled for the 11th of May, and we are eagerly awaiting their decision.
I have also reached out to Tea Green, an organisation responsible for markets like Bowhouse, by emailing them detailed information about our company and website. We are hopeful for opportunities to showcase our products at these events and connect with more members of the community.
This section was added on 21st of March.
We are thrilled to share this update with you, highlighting our success in pursuing our goal of attending markets to connect with new communities. It's incredibly gratifying to see our persistence pay off as we have received invitations to participate in markets that we meticulously researched at the outset of this project.
We are excited to announce our upcoming market appearances: our debut will be at the Rosyth market on March 31st, followed by secured spaces on June 30th and August 25th. Additionally, we will be participating in the Rose & Thistle market in St Andrews on May 11th.
Our products and the creative side of us
We've poured all our spare time into SwaveArt and our company, balancing it with full-time studies and day jobs. It's been a journey of learning, making mistakes, and rapid growth. Finally, we have managed to gather all the information from the past few months. Surprisingly, we achieved all this in under three months, starting from scratch. Our Fife College lecturers and staff have been a huge help, always there to answer even the silliest questions. Despite being short on time, we're constantly brainstorming new ideas, both individually and together, envisioning a future where our visions come to life.
Logo development was a crucial step for us, and we made the decision once we incorporated it into our website and social media platforms.

Our Unique Designs
Introducing our first creation at SwaveArt, wooden keychains with embedded NFC technology. These are not just keychains. We let clients choose from personalised messages or eco-friendly business cards. Anyone can attach them to car or house keys. Your loved ones can hear sweet messages or your contact details are always at hand, all while being environmentally sustainable.
We have designed, laser cut, and hand-painted each item. Our sales reached businesses and a few people that were interested in personalised messages for love once.
Personalised 3D lamps: we were excited to be working on them. We explored acrylics that can be laser-cut and the personalised sound wave message has been designed via various programs. With support from the engineering department, we brought our vision to life by 3D printing bases in a range of vibrant colours.
Mandala’s that were laser cut: After Jakub acquired a laser machine, a world of possibilities opened up with wood. His first creation was a stunning Mandala design, meticulously painted with vibrant colours and carefully layered to achieve a captivating 3D effect. When Marcela laid eyes on this masterpiece, her creative spark ignited. She envisioned adding light to enhance its beauty. Drawing from our experience with acrylic, we seamlessly integrated it between the layers, illuminating our Mandala creation in a mesmerising display. And thus, our journey into illuminated art was born, setting the stage for countless innovative designs to come.
Since then, our creative journey has led us to design a variety of lamps, including charming animals like giraffes, highland cows, owls, and dogs. We've even crafted a lamp featuring our iconic DaVinci logo. Currently, we're hard at work on designs inspired by the thistle and deer, adding even more enchanting pieces to our collection.
We decided to expand our collection by introducing magnets, aiming to increase interest and sales. Our goal was to offer a diverse range of products at various price points to cater to different segments, preferences, and budgets.
We designed special Valentine's Day keychains tailored for a market just before this romantic occasion. Using high-quality base oil paint, we highlighted the natural elements, adding a touch of elegance to each piece.
At the start, we collaborated with online design platforms to purchase various designs. We have done this out of curiosity and desire. This allowed us to gain insights to move quickly through our research and face different aspects of the market.
Now, we take pride in crafting our distinctive designs, which have gained significant interest. We maintain an open-minded approach towards new design concepts and bravely embrace any challenges that come our way. A prime illustration of this is our exclusive partnership with a Craft Shop in Falkland, where our unique creations are exclusively available.

Projects for online customer
From now on, clients can simply send us pictures of their beloved pets, and we will work our magic from there.
This wonderful client presented us with a special challenge. After receiving a personalised item for Lexie, they were so impressed that they immediately placed an order for Jax on the spot.
Project for Academy Bistro at Fife College Kirkcaldy Campus
At our very first event, we were approached by John Elliott, and we are now working on designing personalised table stands for him. These stands will feature numbers, the bistro logo, the name, and a QR code linked to their website, all displayed on the front. Additionally, they have requested the Fife College logo and our contribution to be included on the back. We have created two prototypes, both of which were well-received, and we are making a few final adjustments before supplying 15 stands, one for each table. As a token of appreciation, they will also receive personalised keyrings to share with their customers.
The shops that we are collaborating with
Dipping our toes in. You never know until you ask. Marcela is bold when it comes to discussing our business with others. Unafraid and assertive, she adeptly steers conversations toward our unique products and potential collaborations.
Granny Betty Larder in Forfar
Our display has been up for two weeks now. While sales are moving at a slow pace, it's a fresh avenue for advertising that we are exploring at the moment.
Cottage Craft Shop in Falkland
We have crafted a special piece for Tim and we are keeping our fingers crossed that it will be well-received by shop visitors. Tim loved it. Currently, our focus is on creating new items, including deer and thistle lamps, owl magnets, and even animal-themed coasters.
Unique & Antique in Kinghorn
Following a recommendation from our lecturer Tina, we were invited to present our product samples at a local shop. The owner showed enthusiasm and expressed interest in selling our goods. Currently, we are in the process of designing a display for the shop, for a space that has been allocated to us. We are thrilled at the prospect of having our items showcased in Kinghorn, where the local community can discover more about what we are all about.
Instant feedback
Everywhere we have showcased our SwaveArt concept, received an overwhelming response of amazement. The progress we have made in designing items and integrating wood elements has generated considerable interest wherever we go. This connection to our work is deeply meaningful, driving us to push ourselves even harder.
Money
As a registered company, we are cautious about sharing our cash flow spreadsheets.
Initially, we were purchasing resources using our personal accounts. However, since establishing DaVinci Enterprise, we have obtained a business account. Now, both of us can use it for business purchases, allowing us to monitor our finances more effectively. During the early stages, we meticulously recorded all purchases, tracking both money going out and coming in. Any profits we made were promptly reinvested back into the business. Since launching the SwaveArt project and our business, we have managed to recoup half of our initial investment. However, we have reinvested all of these earnings into purchasing more supplies.
Fundraising Application
We have recently submitted a fundraising application to Business Getaway requesting £500 to invest in a new laser machine. Although it's not the specific one we have our eye on, having two smaller laser machines will significantly boost our production capabilities and allow us to share the workload more efficiently.
What we are all about
Ethical statement
At DaVinci Enterprise Ltd ethical integrity is at the core of everything we do. We prioritize honesty, transparency, and respect in our interactions with customers, partners, and the environment. Our commitment to ethical practices ensures that every DaVinci Enterprise creation reflects our values of integrity, creativity, and sustainability, enriching the lives of those we serve while contributing positively to our communities.
Sustainability
Sustainability remains a top priority for us. We are actively searching for a responsible wood supplier who shares our commitment to eco-friendliness. Our goal is to utilize locally sourced materials, particularly cuts or waste material that can be repurposed to fit our needs. Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of harvesting shavings from this process to create wood pellets, which can be sold as fuel, further reducing waste and promoting sustainability.
Sustainability
A Pillar of Our Philosophy
At DaVinci Enterprise, our dedication extends beyond the canvas of creativity; it reaches into the heart of sustainability and environmental responsibility. We recognize that our planet provides the very foundation for our artistic expressions, and it is only fitting that we give back with gratitude and care.
Harmonising with Nature
In our pursuit of art that speaks not only to the soul but also respects the Earth, we have adopted practices that align with our environmental values. Our wooden elements, a testament to our commitment to natural beauty, are treated with nature-based oils, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint. This choice reflects our deep respect for the materials we use and the world that provides them.
A Circular Approach to Resources
Understanding the importance of resource conservation, we've taken steps to ensure that nothing goes to waste. Our wood offcuts and shavings are not seen as mere by-products, but as opportunities for reuse. These remnants are transformed into wood pellets, a sustainable source of energy, which we then donate to those in need. This circular approach not only reduces waste but also provides warmth and support to our community members, embodying the very essence of giving back.
Planting Seeds for the Future
Perhaps our most heartfelt initiative is our commitment to reforestation. Acknowledging that we are all borrowers of the Earth's riches, we have pledged to return a portion of our bounty to its rightful owner - the planet itself. We allocate 10% of our profits to planting new trees, a gesture of restitution and hope for future generations.
In collaboration with local farmers, we have secured a designated area for these new saplings, ensuring their protection and growth for years to come. Our recent order of 105 trees marks the beginning of what we envision to be a thriving testament to our dedication to the planet. This hands-on approach to reforestation allows us not only to contribute to the Earth's lungs but also to stay connected to the very essence of our artistic inspirations.
A Commitment Beyond Art
Our endeavours in sustainability and environmental contribution are more than just adjuncts to our art; they are integral to our identity. We believe that true creativity flourishes when it gives back, when it acknowledges its roots, and when it acts as a steward for the planet. Our initiatives in sustainability are our way of paying forward the gifts we have received, ensuring that the legacy of SwaveArt & DaVinci Enterprise is not only measured by the art it produces but also by the positive impact it has on the world.
At DaVinci Enterprise Ltd, we are dedicated to working closely with communities and giving back to the environment. Through partnerships with Ecologi projects and our own tree-planting initiatives, we aim to make a positive impact on the planet. By supporting these efforts, we are committed to sustainability and fostering a greener, healthier future for all.
Reflection
A Journey of Transformation
As we look back on the path SwaveArt has taken us, it's clear that the project has been much more than a creative endeavour; it has been a transformative journey. From its inception, SwaveArt was rooted in the belief that art could bridge communities and evoke deep, personal connections. However, the depth of change it would instigate in us as creators was something we could only begin to appreciate as we delved deeper into the project.
Awakening to the Community's Pulse
Our engagement with SwaveArt has profoundly heightened our awareness of the community's significance and the intrinsic value of 'being good.' This project has been a lens through which we've come to see the interconnectedness of individual actions and collective well-being. It's taught us that each piece of art we create isn't just an object of beauty but a ripple in the vast pond of community life, capable of touching hearts and inspiring change.
Seeing Goodness Everywhere
Perhaps one of the most unexpected outcomes of this journey has been the shift in our perspective towards life and our surroundings. SwaveArt has attuned us to the inherent goodness that lies in every moment, every interaction, and every challenge. This project has become a constant reminder that beauty and positivity are not just elements to be created but also to be discovered in the fabric of our daily lives.
Fuelling a Broader Vision
As SwaveArt & DaVinci Enterprise continues to grow, so too does our vision for the impact we wish to have. This project has become a beacon, guiding us towards greater involvement in community development, environmental conservation, and the global conversation on sustainability. It's motivated us to envision a future where our work can serve as a model for how creativity, technology, and ethical values can converge to make a lasting difference.
In Reflection
In reflecting on the journey of SwaveArt, it's evident that the project has been a crucible for personal and collective growth. It has not only shaped our lives but also redefined our understanding of the role we play in the tapestry of community and the larger narrative of humanity. As we move forward, we carry with us the lessons learned, the inspirations gained, and the unwavering belief in the power of art to enact positive change, both within and beyond the bounds of our immediate world.
