The roots of the company trace back to the early 1940s, when a diligent individual residing in the village of Talang Padang, located 75 kilometers from the main city of Lampung, Indonesia, initiated his entrepreneurial journey. He engaged in buying and selling small quantities of coffee in the surrounding areas, including the Ulubelu Mountains region. Through strong alliances with local farmers and fostering healthy relationships, PT Ulubelu Cofco Abadi was subsequently established.

We started our journey in 2020, driving around Indonesia to visit our partners during the early onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since then, we have grown our footprint to 14 Indonesian regions, working together with 10 processing partners. The name CATUR comes from an old Sanskrit language meaning four, referring to the 4 key taste profiles, Bumi, Senja, Pucuk and Kamala. Each one of these taste profiles were specifically designed with purpose driven fermentation approach: We thought about the flavors that we want first, before utilizing terroir-specific fermentation starters & steps.
Product:
PUCUK:
This taste profile includes tea-like elegance with calmer fruit notes. We were able to achieve this through the combination of yeast, bacteria & fungi based inoculants as well as utilizing the honey method processing style.
KAMALA:
Kamala offers different arrays of fruity, boozy and out of this world flavors. CATUR achieved this through the use of mostly anaerobic natural technique as well as trial-based inoculants.
BUMI :
Bumi’s taste profile have the same chocolatey, brown spices and sweetness that people like about Indonesian coffee, but elevated with extra vibrancy and structure. Utilizing a combination of full washed and honey methods as well as yeast-based inoculants.
SENJA :
Senja’s taste profile is signified by a combination of deeper and complex vibrancy with an accompanying fruit sweetness and rounded body.
