Hilla Ovil Brenner is a serial entrepreneur in the high-tech industry for over 15 years. Named top 100 influential people in the hi-tech industry in 2015, Hilla started as a lawyer in Israel and NY and went on to co-found 3 companies, one of which is listed on TASE, and then went on to be a mentor and an investor. She is also the founder of "Yazamiyot", the largest female entrepreneurship organization in Israel, and created Campus for Moms, the first "baby-friendly" startup school at Google. Hilla is a true believer in innovation and team spirit and is currently the Managing Director of Techstars Tel Aviv Accelerator.
Keren Hod
Keren Hod is the Founder and CEO of WE - Women Entrepreneurship, a non-profit organization that promotes women for entrepreneurship.Keren, 28, holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering and management from Ben-Gurion University, did her military service as an officer, veteran of the cyber-intelligence 8200 Unit. Previously, Keren worked at Deloitte as a Technology Consultant. Alongside leading WE, Keren is also an R&D Project manager, writes a regular column for Forbes magazine and lectures in various companies.
Keren was chosen for Forbes "30 Under 30" list for 2021.
Vaishnavi Ananthanarayanan
Vaishnavi Ananthanarayanan graduated with a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics, Dresden, Germany in 2014. Prior to this, Vaishnavi pursued a dual degree - M.Sc. Biological Sciences and B.E. Computer Science at BITS, Pilani, India. She started her independent group in 2014 at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore with her Dept. of Science and Technology (India) INSPIRE Faculty Award. She transitioned to an Assistant Professor position in the same institute in 2017. She was awarded the Dept. of Biotechnology (DBT, India) Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award in 2015, Science and Engineering Research Board (India) Early Career Research Award in 2016, and was elected Associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences in 2018. In 2019, she was inducted to the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) as a Young Investigator and was granted the Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance Intermediate Fellowship. Most recently, her work was recognized with the Indian National Science Academy’s Medal for Young Scientists 2020, and the American Society for Cell Biology WICB Junior Award for Excellence in Research this year. In June 2020, she co-founded BiasWatchIndia, an initiative to document representation of women, and to combat gender-biased panels at Indian science conferences.
Rachel Erhard
Rachel Erhard, Ph.D, is a professor of Educational Counseling and Psychology at Tel Aviv University. Prof. Erhard combines along her career: Academia, Practice and social activism. Upon her appointment (2012) as the university president advisor for Gender Equity, she initiated the Israeli University president’s advisors forum. Under her leadership, the forum has developed a national program of advancing gender equity in the universities, which was adopted by the Authority of Higher Education. The program is implemented since than and an intensive process of changes is going on.
Nandita Jayaraj
Nandita Jayaraj is an independent science journalist, editor and storyteller, who is interested in the contributions and journeys of underrepresented groups in science. She is the co-founder of the award-winning feminist science media platform TheLifeofScience.com, and an author of several children's books, her latest being 'Rathna and the Ring of Fire' and '31 Fantastic Adventures in Science'.
Avital Beck
Avital Beck is the CEO, CSO and co-founder of DiagnoseStick. Prior to co-founding DiagnoseStick, Avital spent over six years in the Israeli biotech industry as a Research & Development Scientist and an intellectual property manager. She received her Bachelor of Science in biotechnology from Bar-Ilan University and Ph.D. track followed by two post-doctorates at the Weizmann Institute of Science. Avital’s expertise extends to molecular cell biology, diabetes, stem cell research, microbiology and bioinformatics. She is also the mother of seven children and a social activist that promotes female minorities in STEM and high-tech.
Maitri Gopalakrishna
Maitri Gopalakrishna, Maitri Gopalakrishna is a drama therapist, counselling psychologist, theatre maker and practice-researcher. She has a PhD from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Mumbai) and an MA in Counselling Psychology with a concentration in Drama Therapy from the California Institute of Integral Studies (San Francisco). Maitri works in community building, preventative care, mental health support, psychotherapy, and training in a variety of institutional and community contexts. She has experience working with issues of gender, sexual trauma, and childhood sexual abuse. Maitri's recent areas of research include drama as an intervention for sexual trauma, therapeutic theatre, and drawing on theories and practices from the Natyashastra in therapeutic work.
Rinat Shafran
Rinat Shafran is the Director of the Science & Community Division of the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, where she oversees governmental support for addressing societal gaps through science education, creating the next generation of Israel's scientists, and promoting R&D in the periphery. Previously, Rinat served as the Director of Municipal Development in the Ministry of the Interior. She holds graduate degrees in public policy and political science, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Rinat is an alumna of the Civil Service Cadets Program.
Manal Haj Zarobi
Manal Haj-Zaroubi is a Researcher and Scientific Director of The Galilee Society Institute of Applied Research, ShefaAmr. After her PhD she worked as a senior chemist and Project Manager of athe staff chemists at the pharmaceutical company of Axon Medchem BV (The Netherlands), for 10 years. In 2017, Dr. Haj-Zaroubi became a researcher in wastewater treatment and medicinal plants at the same institute. In 2019 she became the scientific director of the Galilee Society Institute of Applied Research. Her current research interests focus on exploring the potential and, ultimately, the utilization of the organic components in the Olive Mill Wastewater (OMWW) to yield environmentally friendly products. In addition she works on the identification and characterization of biologically active secondary metabolites from different medicinal plants.
Orit Hershtig-Cohen
Orit Hershtig Cohen is the CEO of Dead-Sea & Arava Science Center. She lives in Kibbutz Mitzpe Shalem in the Dead Sea with her partner and our three little children. She received a master's degree in business managing from Ben-Gurion University and a bachelor's degree in earth sciences in geology from the Hebrew University. Prior to her position in R&D, she worked at Megilot Dead Sea Regional Council as the director of the Tourism and Culture Department and as an advisor to the head of the regional council for Gender Authority. She is a member of the board of directors of the "Melach haaretz" organization
Shobhana Narasimhan
Shobhana Narasimhan is a professor at the Theoretical Sciences Unit, JNCASR, Bangalore and a fellow of Indian Academy Of Sciences. She obtained her M.Sc. from IIT Bombay (where she was the Institute Silver Medallist), and an MA and PhD from Harvard University. She did postdoctoral work at Brookhaven National Laboratory, USA, and the Fritz Haber Institut, Berlin, Germany. Narasimhan is keen on promoting participation of women in science. She was a member of Working Group for Women in Physics of IUPAP. As a member of the Standing Committee on Women in Science and National Task Force on Women in Science she has made recommendations on how government should change its policies to promote female participation in sciences. Some of these recommendations include having at least one woman member in every hiring, promotion and award committee, ensuring flexi-time for women and increasing days of maternity leave. She has also organized several Career Development Workshops since 2013 for Women in Physics at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Trieste, Italy and at the East African Institute for Fundamental Research in Kigali, Rwanda. As part of her paper titled, Leaving and Entering a Career in Physics, Narasimhan studied factors that cause women to leave physics and the effect of taking a break on their career. The possibility of a flexible career path and ways to retain female physicists were also discussed.
Sharon Rashi-Elkeles
Sharon Rashi-Elkeles is the Chairwoman of the council for the Advancement of Women in Science & Technology, Ministry of Innovation, Science & Technology, Israel. She holds a Ph.D. in human genetics, and have been involved in academic research for over 15 years, during which she managed and led multidisciplinary international projects in the field of systems biology and applied genomics. In 2013, she founded StemCore Solutions Ltd., a private company aimed to establish a Stem Cell center that will handle the entire value chain of personal preservation and treatments related to stem cells. In recent years, Dr. Rashi-Elkeles has been involved in several other innovative projects in the biomed field: She served as an entrepreneur in-residence at Mor research applications Ltd., where she led “AbracadaBRA”, a start-up project intended to develop a medical device for breast cancer diagnosis (a screening-bra); She was a member in a start-up company developing an application for assessing the risk to be diagnosed with breast cancer, and she is consulting other startups in the biomed field.
