India and Israel Women in STEM: Sharing Ideas and Initiatives
Having realized that many factors that contribute to gender imbalance in the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) are universal, the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, State of Israel have decided to share ideas and information, and learn from each other the best possible ways to tackle the challenge of achieving gender parity in STEM. Therefore, it has been decided to hold a half-day-long mini-conference on November 24, at 13:00 IST, where speakers from both countries will highlight the efforts being taken in their respective countries, both to increase the number of women in STEM fields and to create a more equitable climate for them to study and work in. The topics to be covered include gender inclusivity in institutions, combating bias in conferences and committees, the lives of women in science, drama therapy as a tool to help woman in science, special initiatives in rural areas and programs to help women entrepreneurs in science and technology.
