Indian Lake Improvement Association

The Indian Lake Improvement Association was organized and created in February of 2000 as a Nonprofit Corporation under the name ILIA, Inc. As stated in its charter documents, the purpose for which the corporation is organized is to "preserve, protect, and improve the quality of Indian Lake, Dowagiac, Michigan."

The “Bits of History” included on this site are intended to provide information on the history of Indian Lake. They contain information gathered from research, other publications, personal knowledge from lake and local residents, and from others who can contribute knowledge of the past years of activities on our lake.
