US-Mexican War

The United States-Mexican War began in 1846, triggered by the United States' annexation of the lands comprising the independent Republic of Texas, which Mexico still considered to be a part of their territory despite Texas's secession from Mexico in 1836. The war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo on February 2, 1848.
