Every child deserves to learn in a nurturing and conducive environment. What we are learning now more than ever, is that the environment we are trying to build is unique to each individual.
In previous generations, we may find that teaching based on a set assessment or standardising content based on what we might think is the "average" student is the way to go about our planning. In reality, there is no average student and developing resources based on the assessment represents the placing of students in an environment in which we feel all students will develop best in.
In developing this website, we hope it will support teachers across the fraternity in providing that unique environment for each student. Not just for students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), but for all students, as every student has their own set of needs.
Through narratives, you have the opportunity to understand the mindsets of teachers who have explored inclusivity in conjunction with assessment, resource development, culture building and more. Through the strategies, you will learn about the possibilities in meeting the student needs in learning, physical, mental and social-emotional domains.
As you browse the strategies, that contributing teachers have tested in their own classrooms, keep an open-minded, note that what worked for them, may not work the same for your students. And when things do not go as planned take heart that you have made the effort, that there is most definitely another strategy out there waiting for you to try. You have the full support of all of us here in your journey ahead.

While every strategy is tried and tested by teachers, each student is unique and strategies may not work on every student simply because they have been diagnosed with similar needs. If one strategy does not work, just try another one, or modify the strategy to fit your purpose. Your effort can change a child's life and your modified strategy could benefit future teachers.
