ABOUT

The International Math and Science Olympiad (IMSO) is a global competition in Mathematics and Science for students under the age of 13.

BACKGROUND

It was initiated by the Ministry of National Education, Indonesia in 2003 (which was then called AMSO - ASEAN Mathematics and Science Olympiad) with the aim of developing primary school pupils' talent and interest in Mathematics and Science, and motivating them to develop their intellectual capacity and skills in these subjects.

Previous Editions

The 2025 edition of the IMSO was held 8 October, at Alor Setar, the capital of Kedah province. The event took place at Albukhary International University from 5 to 9 October 2025, with participation from over 400 students representing 23 countries.

The 2024 edition of the IMSO was held in Wenzhou, China in October 2024. The contest attracted 263 participants from 18 countries. (Botswana, Bulgaria, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and host China.)
