We currently have 35 groups (Autumn 25) covering a wide range of topics (see below)
The groups are not randomly matched but matched based off the preferences you outlined in the form
We go through each and every sign-up by hand to see where interests lie
While we do use a soft matching algorithm to help us distribute members across groups (there are 200+ people to match !) the final matching has gone through multiple iterations of us reviewing and moving people around
If you do not provide your specific areas of interest then it is very hard to match you to a group you feel most aligned with - please bear this in mind for future iterations of the DRP

Switching groups
If you have already joined a DRP group, and feel that you would like to switch groups (e.g. because of interests, difficulty etc.) this is possible; however, the later on in term you ask, the less likely it will be possible to move you
If you do move, it is expected that you catch up with the new group separately - the group leader will provide guidance, but it is up to you to make up the time yourself outside the main sessions
Note: We have allowed everyone so far to move when asked, given good reasons for wanting to do so
The procedure for moving group
Email David cc Shen with subject title 'Request to move DRP group' - this email should outline what group you are currently in, why you would not like to continue in your group & what sort of topics you would like to explore in another group
If you have a specific new group in mind, please outline which group you would like to considerÂ
If we (i.e. David and Shen) have agreed you can try to join a new group, email your current group leader, the new agreed group leader & cc David and Shen, please outline to both group leaders why you would like to switch group, asking for both their permissions to move group
Once permission to move has been granted, ask the new group leader for a quick catchup, materials they have already shared/explored and possibly the (non-public) proposal they made
