Miyako Island is the central island of the Miyako archipelago, consisting of eight islands of various sizes, located approximately 300 km southwest of the main island of Okinawa. It is popular as a remote island where visitors can enjoy the rich and untouched nature, such as beautiful coral reefs and mangrove forests.

The Miyakojima City Hall, the venue for the workshop, is a 30-minute bus ride from the city center. In addition, Miyakojima City Hall is a new building that opened on January 4, 2021.
