Congress Themes
We invite paper and poster proposals addressing (but not limited to) the following themes:
Migration (Day 1)
• Historical and contemporary migration experiences
• Environmental dimensions of migration
• Migration, borders, and survival
• Migration, identity, and community formation
• Gendered perspectives on migration
• Migration in literature, history, and the arts
Communication (Day 2)
• Intercultural communication and cross-cultural encounters
• Media, technology, and transnational communication
• Gender and communication
• Communication in diasporic and migrant communities
• Digital platforms and global connectivity
Presentation Formats
Participants may apply for one of the following presentation formats:
• Oral Paper Presentations
15-minute presentation followed by 5-minute Q&A
• Poster Presentations
Themed poster sessions (Migration & Environment / Social Impacts)
Abstract Submission Guidelines
• Abstract length: 250–300 words
• Language: English
• Eligibility: Young researchers without PhD degrees
• Submission deadline: 1 April 2026
• A short personal biography of the author should be provided as a separate document.
• If authors wish to be considered for publication with the congress's partner journals, please explicitly state which partner journal they wish to be considered for in their abstract submission.

Publication Opportunity
Selected papers will be considered for publication in student journals in partnership with this congress, including:
• Retrospect Journal
• Edinburgh Student Literary Journal
• Edinburgh Student Journal of Science
Authors who wish to be considered for publication should indicate their preferred journal in the abstract submission.
Registration & Travel Support
• There is no registration fee for participation.
• To support accessibility and student mobility, each accepted participant residing outside of Edinburgh will receive a travel subsidy of up to £60 to contribute toward travel expenses.
