The Institute of Materials Informatics (IMI) is looking for qualified and motivated individuals for the position of Intern/Research Assistant to support its ongoing research and development activities.
IMI is a private research organization focused on accelerating scientific discovery and innovation at the intersection of chemistry, physics, and materials science & engineering. We specialize in computational research aimed at solving critical challenges in materials and molecular systems. We welcome applications from candidates with a background in any of the following fields: Chemistry (Physical, Organic, Inorganic, Analytical, etc.), Physics, Materials Science and Engineering, Natural or Physical Sciences, and relevant fields. We would like to clarify that this is an unpaid position. While there is no financial remuneration, the role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Computational Chemistry and Materials Science and to collaborate with a professional team.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (completed or in final year) in a relevant discipline
Having fundamental knowledge in Density Functional Theory (DFT) and hands-on experience in one of the DFT tools (Gaussian, ORCA, CASTEP, Quantum Espresso, etc.)
Passion for scientific research, problem-solving, and computational work
Strong analytical and communication skills
Prior experience in research (academic or industrial) is preferred but not mandatory
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in computational research activities
Perform data analysis, documentation, and report preparation
Support in literature review, project planning, and presentations
Work collaboratively with research fellows and advisors
Adhere to safety and ethical research practices
