Virtual Choir: Pass it On

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected our daily lives greatly in many aspects for the past few months. As Lasallians, it is at this time that we need to stand in unity in order to stay strong throughout this period of adversity. Even though we may be separated from each other and isolated physically, we can still gather together through online means. As it is the heart and intentions that matter, no matter where we are, we Lasallians can still be united as one. We, the Mass Choir, would like to present our performance of Pass It On by Kurt Kaiser.

Virtual Choir: City of God

As the school year is about to begin, the La Salle College Mass Choir would like present to you City of God by Dan Schutte. We hope to start our school year by singing one of our favourite hymns, with members old and new.

With the unpredictability of the situation of the pandemic, the possibility of face-to-face gatherings between members seemed distant. However, this does not stop us from singing and praying to God. With faith, hope and love, there is no need for us to be panic when we face formidable obstacles.

Lastly, we would like to recognise and show appreciation to members of our family who will be pursuing their endeavours elsewhere in the coming school year.

May God bless everyone of you and praise be to the Lord. Amen.

Virtual Choir: Joyful Joyful we Adore Thee

The year 2020 is a turbulent one. Across the continents, the coronavirus ravages the world and many are either under strict lockdown protocols or following social distancing measures. However, we at the Brothers of Christians Schools have not given up. As lasallians, we are thankful towards the selfless sacrifice of medical personnel around the world. Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee was written by Henry Van Dyke, set to Ludwig van Beethoven's symphony number 9 and was widely regarded as one of the most joyous hymn ever written. We hope that in times of despair, everyone around the world can remain joyful.

Virtual Choir: Shine, Jesus Shine

The La Salle College Mass Choir would like to share with you one of our signature songs: Shine Jesus Shine, with members singing and playing 9 different instruments as a virtual choir. We would have a feeling of hopelessness during this epidemic period, but as Christians, what we need most is faith, hope and love, and we strongly believe that God’s Grace will lead us through. The song tells us that Jesus, no matter what, is taking care of us, despite the fact that we might often lose faith. It also reminds us that if we have faith, hope and love, we can surmount any obstacles.

Alumni interview - Howe Kung

My relationship with the Mass Choir began when I was Form one. At that time, every Roman Catholic student at LSC had to join a Catholic organisation just like nowadays. However, as a member of the St Teresa’s Church Legion of Mary, I respectably declined to join any of the Lasallian Catholic organisations, but that did not mean the end of relationship between me and Mass Choir: as a member of the School Senior Choir, I always worked with the Mass Choir when there are large-scale Masses, and of course I always listened to the Mass Choir singing during the regular Mass, and from these events I learned more about the Mass Choir.
