What is Panhellenic recruitment?
2026 RECRUITMENT REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
What is Panhellenic recruitment?
Panhellenic recruitment is a process that allows Potential New Members (PNMs) to meet each Panhellenic chapter on campus, learn about their values and sisterhoods, and find the community that their values align most with.
How much does it cost to register for Primary Recruitment?
A $60 non-refundable fee is required to participate and can be made using this link, this fee covers transportation, meals, required materials, and other items.
When does registration close?
Registration will close August 12th at 4:00 PM before Meet Your Rho Gamma Night. We recommend signing up as soon as possible so we can connect you with a Rho Gamma who can support you throughout the summer before recruitment begins with any questions or concerns you may have, as well as keep you up to date with any information you may need to know!
What is the cost of membership to join a Panhellenic Sorority?
Membership costs or “dues” vary for each chapter. You will receive a financial speech at each chapter you visit for Sisterhood Rounds as well as a "PNM Lookbook" that includes the prices of dues for each chapter, costs to live in the house, and pin/badge fees.
Is there a GPA requirement to be eligible for Panhellenic Recruitment at Illinois State University?
While there is no GPA requirement to go through the recruitment process at Illinois State University, each chapter has their own GPA requirement that can be found in the PNM lookbook you will receive during meet your Rho Gamma night.
I am a transfer student. Can I participate in Panhellenic Recruitment at Illinois State University?
Yes! You do not have to be a freshman to go through recruitment. Many members of our community went through the recruitment process as a transfer student or upperclassmen and still found their homes and had a great recruitment experience.
I am worried about balancing school and being in a sorority. What does the time commitment look like?
Balancing school and sorority life is very manageable, and academics always come first! While members attend weekly meetings, events, and sisterhood activities, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved at a level that fits your schedule, plus built-in support systems to help you succeed academically and personally.
I accepted a bid from a chapter last Fall during primary recruitment, but I am no longer in that chapter. Can I go through primary recruitment again?
You must wait until the next Primary Recruitment cycle to go through the Recruitment process after signing an MRABA if you were not initiated into a sorority. If you accepted a bid but were not initiated in the previous fall (Fall 2025), you may go through the Primary Recruitment process this fall (Fall 2026). However, if you accepted a bid and at any point you were initiated, you would have been a member of a National Panhellenic Chapter and therefore are ineligible for Primary Recruitment, even if you are no longer a member of that chapter.
Am I guaranteed to be a member of a chapter if I am a legacy?
No. Each chapter has their own processes for looking at legacies, however Illinois State University Panhellenic recruitment is a values-based process, and being a legacy to a certain chapter does not guarantee you a bid.
No. Reccomendation letters are not common during ISU Panhellenic recruitment, and are not needed to recieve a bid from any chapter on campus.
Do I need to know people in a sorority to participate?
Not at all! ISU Panhellenic Recruitment is a values-based process that anyone can go through, whether you already know members or are coming in knowing no one.
There are no requirements on things you HAVE to bring to recruitment each day, but some recommendations include the following:
Bandaids
Bobbi pins
Deodorant
Extra makeup
Fan
Gum/mints
Hair brush
Hair ties
Perfume
Phone charger/portable charger
Snacks
Tissues
Water
Any other medications/personal items you may need
How do I know which chapter is right for me?
Focus on where you feel most comfortable, valued, and connected. Trust the conversations you have and how each chapter makes you feel throughout the process. Your Rho Gamma will help guide you through the decision-making process as well!
What should I wear during recruitment?
Each round has a different level of attire, and you can find recommended outfits for each round by clicking here. The most important thing is to wear something that makes you feel comfortable and confident!
Are sororities only social?
Sororities offer much more than social events! Members are involved in leadership, academics, philanthropy, community service, campus involvement, and so much more.
Do I need to provide a resume to go through recruitment?
No, resumes are not accepted or required to go through Panhellenic recruitment at Illinois State University.
