Peter Metivier '27

My name is Peter Metivier ’27. I’m from Bloomington, Illinois, and currently studying agriculture and consumer economics. From my short two years with our Chapter, the greatest benefit I’ve reaped is the brotherhood. I’ve found quality guys who help build each other up and craft the network I wish to stay connected with 20 or 30 years from now. Even while 312 E. Armory Avenue is under renovation, we still come together and make the most of our time.

Recently, we celebrated Delta Upsilon’s 190th Founders Day. I ask that you think back to your favorite DU memory. Maybe it was hearing stories retold from the past week at Chapter on Monday, a party we threw, or anything that happened in the famed room 5. Mine has been celebrating Illinois’ upset over Iowa State to send us to the Elite Eight with a parade of DUs from the Chapter House to Alma Mater. Your memories may only come from a short portion of your life, but the years you spent in Champaign surrounded by your brothers helped developed you into the man you became.

It is part of our responsibility as alumni to make sure the next generation can continue where we left off. Having a brand-new renovation helps us as current undergraduates to recruit quality classes, host fun events, and expand the brotherhood while being a centerpiece for us to come together, share laughs, handle the hard stuff, and truly better our fraternity’s legacy, continuing it for 190 more years. But we can’t do it without the help of every alumnus…

I hope you all consider joining us in reaching our fundraising goals. We know that our youngest alumni are still finding their post-collegiate paths or may not have as much in the way of disposable income as they raise families and navigate the beginnings of their careers, so our brotherhood has created a way you can donate what you can but make it go further! Also, please join us on September 5-6, 2025, at our reunion event in Champaign as we unveil the new Chapter House. I look forward to meeting you all in person.
