Birth to 4

Fun Fact: When I got the call from Bob Raczka inviting me to consider working with him on a book, I was immediately interested. With Bob 's talent, I knew it had to be good. As soon as I read the manuscript, it was green lights all the way.

Bob referred to Abe, the bear, as a rare bear. Early on we were wondering what made Abe a rare bear. There had to be something visual that would separate Abe from other bears. One of the many suggestions came from kidlit author, Miriam Busch. She suggested a daisy necklace. The kind that she had made as a young girl. Bingo! That worked!

Fun Fact: When I first wrote Bear's Scare it started with a spider, but there was no Bear! The bear in the original story was a little boy, inspired by my own childhood dislike for all things creepy and crawly.

Fun Fact: As a children's poet, I feel like I'm living in the right place--on Longfellow Avenue, in an area of Glen Ellyn called "Poets Corner." Other nearby streets are Lowell Avenue and Whittier Avenue.

Fun Fact: I will be a first-time grandma this year! After a big family discussion, it's been decided that I will be called BiBi. I can't wait to read PEEKITY BOO-WHAT YOU CAN DO! to my precious grandson.
